Hello, this is Rob Welcome to steam it Welcome to the blockchain, here is the homepage that you will see if you don't have an account with steam it yet you might as well sign up, it's absolutely free to start posting. And you could make money by just sharing and creating great content. So obviously you click this blue button here sign up, and then you have to give your account name and this needs to be unique to the platform. So I'll just make one up there and then you'll have to provide your email address. So in order to create an account on steam it you need to provide an email address and a phone number and you probably will be required to verify your identity. The reason you have to do this is to reduce fraud.
Steam, it does give you a small amount of steam. That's the cryptocurrency that steam It uses and that currency can be exchanged for US dollars on many exchanges online, and therefore they don't want people creating numerous accounts in order to make money. Secondly, they don't want other people to imitate famous celebrities on the platform. So that's why you need to verify your identity. Best way to do this is to post a link of your website or of your Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or other social media profiles so that they know it's you. The next thing to say and is probably the most important thing that I will ever say in any of these videos about steam it and that is once you have created an account that is it, that is your only account on steam it you will never be able to get another one and you will actually not be able to delete this one.
So you must never forget your password because it cannot be retrieved This is so important. This is because we are dealing with the blockchain and cryptocurrencies with cryptocurrencies, there are no middlemen, no third parties, no governing bodies. It's all out there on the cloud. So you are responsible for your profile, you are responsible for your money. So you are more like a banker, as there are no banks, there are no third parties. And so you have to be very careful of your online security.
And I would advise you to print out your password and keep it on a piece of paper or one or two or three pieces of paper and keep them in very safe places where you won't forget them. That is the best way to save passwords as well as on a password manager. But don't keep your password on your computer where it is exposed to the internet. Because that is a security vulnerability. When you next Rive the site, you will find this out by seeing your unique username here, and your name will be here at the top. For those of you who haven't created an account at steam it, I would advise you to do that now, you may have to come back for the rest of the videos and watch them once you've been approved.
But I'll get on to the basics of the user interface on steam it in the next video, my name is Rob Coburn. I'll see you there
