Now in this skill, it's called the quick tension scan or the Qt s, or as one sharp nine year old told me Qt s. Can I call it the Qt scan? said sure. So I have a whole bunch of schools where the kids would call it the Qt scan, because they're kind of cute. So it's age appropriate so that works for me. So a quick tension scan is a relaxation, exercise for school, work, hospital bed, home, anywhere you want. It's 30 seconds.
You'll be able to do it quickly after some practice eyes closed or open, just not driving a motorized or non motorized vehicle please. So focus on your breath and release tension as you exhale. So, standing or sitting, close your eyes and focus on your breathing cycle. Breathe in, feel your diaphragm, your belly expand. As you inhale what's the tension like? And you're carrying any tension in your head.
How is your scalp because some of us carry it. So let's carry it in the shoulders. How's your lips but your facial muscles relax. And as you exhale feel the tension just flowing out of the bottom of your feet. Now I had a young gentleman asked me if I could relax my face well enough, you're ready to do this. Not a very pretty sight.
But I'll tell you, it shows tells you that there's no tension. It's very expensive to go to the dentist and pay for grinding teeth and clenching teeth. So one of the things with the quick tension scan is to help you so Take your tongue and curl it up on the roof of your mouth. You can't see it on camera. Breathe in. How's your face?
How's your forehead? How's your eyes? How's your tongue, your lips, your shoulders, your arms, your hands, your chest, your back? your thighs, your feet? Are you holding any tension? Or can you sort of feel like maybe you're almost a boneless chicken from an old Gary Larson's cartoon.
And you can barely stand up because you're slow, relaxed. So quick tension scan is not a judgment of self. Just Uh huh. I've been really getting things done today making life happen. I better do a qt s to make sure I keep my flow. I don't get stuck in frenzy or flickered or gridlock and frozen.
So Qt S is just one of those things we should do every 2030 minutes, especially in the day and age where we have laptops and desktops and tabletops cellphones and mobiles. Just get you to break what you're doing 30 seconds. Your brain gives your eyeballs give your body a chance to reconfigure and regroup and stay in flow. So quick tension scans every day. Until next time, imagine yourself with more resilience for life.
