All right, welcome to day two. And today we're going to talk about your scrollable online magazine, which I call your s o m. this is really where we create content, where it's building relationships built on trust, and we and to do that, in doing that, we end up driving more revenue to our business. So I want to talk about a few things. The first thing is high quality images. Okay? So this is extremely important.
Because this Instagram is a visual platform. People come here to scroll really, really quickly through photos. If they like something, they'll double tap. If they really like something and they want to read your caption. They'll comment and engage with your content if they're really liking it, but we have to start building relationships and To do that, we have to start visually, we have to think about this from a first impression perspective, because people are just going to come to our page and look at the visuals first to see if they even want to read our captions, or think about, you know, engaging with our content and then think about possibly becoming a client and clicking on our link. Right.
So we really have to nurture these relationships that we're building on Instagram. So, a few ways that we can do that. Now DIY is obviously going to be the number one way because as, as beauty professionals and service providers, we need to be taking photos of our work and our clients, and our workspace and maybe some product and behind the scenes stuff. This is all done on a day to day basis and should be evolving and ever you know, it should always be consistent. Taking photos and creating content, this is going to be the number one thing that you need to do now, other types of accounts, maybe they are just bloggers, maybe they are, you know, fashion bloggers or fitness bloggers, something like that. Now they have the opportunity to hire someone to take photos of them.
And other accounts can use stock photography. If you sift through the stock photography really, really, really, really well to be able to set yourself apart, then that's okay. In our case as beauty professionals and service providers, we have to think about doing this DIY, okay? You can sprinkle in some professional photography, and you can sprinkle in some stock photography if it helps your brand. Okay, so you are your brand and you're the one in charge of making your account Speak your brand, okay? So when you think about taking your own photos, you have to understand that it's going to take time, you have to get used to doing it and remember doing it, you have to have the drive to learn how to take a good photo, and, you know, edit your photos or crop them in a way that you need to you need to have effort you need to have you need to take action on these things and actually want to do them in order to see the results from your social media and build a skill set right?
And then things like lighting, you know, using a ring light, you know, that kind of stuff like if you don't feel like your photos are grabbing the attention, maybe check your lighting, check your positioning, are you all over the place or is there consistency, right. So a word of caution when you are using stock photos, use sparingly only use them as kind of fill in the gaps for your page and as long as they fit within your theme. You should be good to go. Okay. So the next thing I want to talk about is having a consistent theme. So I've got three, three profiles here next to each other, that have really nice cohesive themes, right.
So this is extremely important when someone comes to your page. And if you want to look like an authority, and if you want someone to reach out to you on their own, without you having to reach out to them, you have to make them want to reach out, you have to be so enticing you have to be so attractive. your content just has to make somebody want to become your client. Okay, so having a consistent theme. What it does is it separates the average user to being more of an authority. images look good individually and cohesively with the photo next to it and below it.
Recurring colors are elements and at least one thing, at least one thing that can tie it all together, I am telling you will make all the difference. So a poor example of this would be on the left here, you see, you know, a couple of accounts here. On the left, the far left you've got, you know, a couple of products you have a few you know, collages you've got a couple of things that have some, some typography and you just like nothing's really going together and you're kind of like what's happening here you know, it's kind of a hodgepodge of things. The next one too, this is also kind of a same thing. You know, we've got we've got you know, a turkey day image here we've got some I'm not sure she she's must be doing manicures at at a nursing home or something which is really sweet.
She's got some books She's got some quotes. She's doing some announcements for appointments, she's got some collages, and you know, some Halloween stuff. And it's just kind of all over the place and you don't really know like what her expertise is. Right? So then you look over here to these good examples. The one on the left over here she is, specifically, she specifically focuses on up dues, right.
So this is really, really cohesive. You see a theme running here, okay. The one on the right, she was the theme that I can see here. Sometimes it's not as apparent. But what I see are three photos of her three photos of clients, three photos of her three photos of clients. And sometimes she does tutorials she, you know, showcases some of her product.
And that's the kind of theme I see here. He's got like some nice, gray light color hues for backgrounds. So you're starting to really see a theme in these two on the right hand side here. Then the next thing that I want to talk about is that we need to get hyper focused on your topic. So when you look at these that are laying behind here, you've got on the far left, she does specifically does blondes, that's it she does. All she does is blondes, right, all different variations of blondes, but that's what she does.
In the middle, we've got fades, we've got men's fades, or maybe women's to us as well. But this is you know, bunch of like really cool, you know, hyper focused topics that specifically are what you came to the page for, to look at the one on the right here. Is she specifically does Bali OSH that's all she does, okay? So you can really see a cohesive, hyper focused topic and theme within these examples. And what you want to do is you want to stick to your goals for the account, okay? So if you have, if your goal is to promote your beauty business and gain new clients and and build a brand for yourself, that's what your goal needs to be and that is what you need to stick to.
If, if I'm coming to an account where there's five really beautiful pictures of Bali, arched hair, and and then all of a sudden I see a picture of your kid eating, you know, spaghetti. And then next week, I see a few more pictures of beautiful foliage, and then I see your dog throwing up on the floor. Whatever. It's just not something that viewers want to see. We understand that you are a human and you want to showcase some of that. But what it's actually doing is actually making your dedicated followers want to leave your page and unfollow you.
So whenever you see that fluctuation in your followers, a lot of times you have to go back and check and see what you've been posting because if you're posting too much personal stuff, that's not business related, like they wanted to come therefore, then then they're bouncing off and leaving and not following you anymore. So you really want to keep that in check. Okay. So create the content that you have promised your visitors so that they don't leave you later on. If you sell jewelry, only show jewelry related images. If you are a fitness instructor, only show fitness related images Do you feel the need to deviate beyond what you're trying what your ultimate goal is open a personal account, you can have two Instagram accounts, you can have more than one Instagram account and toggle back and forth between them really, really easily.
And I can show you how to do that in a later video if that's something that you want and then go post all of your lifestyle stuff over on your personal page, and just your business stuff on your business page. Okay, if you feel like it fits within your brand, then you can evaluate what that looks like as an umbrella brand. Maybe you do both folios and lash extensions, and you also make jewelry. Okay, so maybe it's a lot of the same audience and you want to create an umbrella brand, then show all three of those things. But if you're putting too much of that personal life into your business page, your viewers are Gonna leave. Okay.
So your homework for day two is, think about those high quality images. Think about your consistent theme and get hyper focused on your topic. So what I want you to do number one with your quality images is choose if you're going to hire professional or use stock images, along with your personal images. Number two is your theme. I want you to list out 123 elements that you could use to create cohesion. So think about color, think about borders, think about image style, think about shapes, those kinds of things.
There are a ton of editing, really fun editing tools that you can use for this. A couple of them are visco. Snapseed gives me a color story. Oh, what's another one? Um, those are a few that I know that that are beautiful. pluses are a really good one.
So those are a few different apps that you can use to get that consistency in your images. So before you even upload them to your planning tool, get your images, right, okay? And then get really hyper focused on your topic. So I want you to list out 123 things that your account will focus on. You do not have to use all three but I want you to just start brainstorming as to what those things could be. Okay.
Um, that's it for day two, and I'll see you in day three.
