In this video I'm going to show you how to play the minor pentatonic scale for position number one. Just like how I mentioned that the minor scale position one is the most important scale you're going to learn. This pentatonic pattern is by far the most used pattern on the guitar. It is the main pattern used for the blues, rock, country and many other genres. You can very easily use this fingering to play over a minor key or major key. In this lesson we'll be looking at how to play it in a minor key.
For minor pentatonic scale position one I'm going to do it out of a sense it's right here in the middle of the neck. So a nice easy place to play. It is very comfortable doing things and A or B. All right, so we're going to start here on this a, on the sixth string, fifth fret, and this is going to be the root of the scale, it's going to go root. And then we're going to go to flat three. Here we're skipping two, because two is not in the pentatonic because one flat 345 and we're going to skip flat six here, because that's not part of the pentatonic.
So we're going to go from five right to flat seven. Then a whole set the one. Then we have flat three, whole set to four. Then five, flat seven, one, and then flat three. Coming back, flat three, one, flat 754 One, flat 754 flat three, and then one. Let's get to that one more time, it's going to be one, flat 345, flat seven, one, flat 345, flat seven, one, flat three, flat three, one, flat 754, flat three, one, flat 754, flat three, one.
If you need more assistance on how to play that make sure you take a look at the PDF that has the chart for this position. That is how you play the minor pentatonic scale position one, make sure you learn this pattern really well because you're going to use it a lot on the guitar.
