Finding our reason why so why are we improving our training? What is the high level business objective we're trying to reach? by tying our project to high level business objectives, we ensure organizational buying. So what is the business mission stage? What are the business drivers? In this instance, in this course, we're going to use a manufacturing business as our example business.
So we're going to look at training people in a manufacturing environment. The first thing we're going to need to do is we're going to need to define our business stage. So is it a business launch? Are we repositioning finding a new niche so If, for instance, we are a new company and we're finding a particular product is going well, we might decide to specialize in that and make that the priority product that we're offering. Are we looking to increase market share? So are we looking to increase the share of the available market that we're trying to actually get?
Are we looking to increase profitability? At first glance, we might think these are the same, but they're not. Increasing profitability is often about reducing waste and improving processes in the business. Are we replicating, diversifying? So maybe we open different branches in different places. Maybe we're in the exit strategy phase, maybe we're looking to become a PLC.
Maybe we're looking to franchise business whenever we consider reason why We need to make sure what our business objectives are. But to do that we need to define business stage. So what we would do now is we would start to brainstorm, we need to find our reason why we're increasing profitability. So what activity could we do? Well, we could invest in automation equipments, we could automate some processes. We could acquire competitors, although that would probably be more about increasing market share.
Unless, of course, I had a technology that we needed, that would improve our internal processes. We could improve our marketing reach and focus, we could downsize the labor force, we could look at ways of trimming some of the labor off or we could improve leadership skills through training. So if we can get better quality leaders in the business, then we're probably Probably going to start seeing improvements in processes and also reductions in waste. So in this instance, we're going to improve our leadership skills to facilitate better productivity. We could use a grid analysis for choosing this option. And we're going to show you a grid analysis chart later in this course.
