In this lecture, you're going to learn about quick notes. I'll show you how to create quick notes while using one note and without opening one note. quick notes are like electronic posters, except they are stored within OneNote so they can be searched, organized and shared. If you wish to create a quick note while using one note, you'll click on the View tab. Come over to the window group and click New quick note. The Quick note window is going to open up on your screen and from here if you wanted to, you can maximize it.
Type in your note. While it's maximized, you can also come up and click on the ellipsis button to get the menus. Now if I wanted to come over to the right, you can click on the ribbon display options and have it show tab commands. This way while you're working within your quick note, you have all the functions and features available to you as you would in a regular notes page. So if you want to cheat, create a bullet list from here a to do tag and so forth. So you have all the options available to you that you would within a regular OneNote page.
We'll come back up to the top, and we'll shrink it up again. And you can move it around wherever you needed to. So for instance, if I wanted to go into another program, I could bring it up and it's not going to hinder what I've got going on. Once you're done with your note, you click the X to close it and it removes it from your screen. Now it doesn't delete the note because like I said, the note is available within OneNote so it can be searched, organized and shared. What it does is it puts it into a quick notes notebook.
So if we come over to the left side of the screen where the notebooks are listed, come down to the bottom, we've got quick notes. If we click on this, it's going to bring up all the pages listing all the quick notes that are available. There's the one I just created and if I click on it, I can see all The information within it. And if I wanted to from here, I could move it into the notebook that it belongs to. So do a right click to move or copy, move, and then it's moved it into that notebook. Now I had said that you could also create quick notes, while OneNote is not open.
So I'll show you how to do that as well. So we're going to go ahead and close out of OneNote. To access quick notes outside of OneNote, you use the Windows key and the N key. Once you do that, it's going to pull up the quick notes screen, so you can type your note. Once you're done, you close it out just like you would if OneNote was open. And now if we go back into OneNote if you clicked open up OneNote after doing a quick note outside of OneNote and this is the type of screen that comes up.
All you need to do is come over to where it's got the double Arrow and switch back to normal view. And it's going to take you in so you can see your one note. right quick notes, and my note I just created. And again, they're always available within the quick notes section. And you can move them to another notebook, section or page. And that's how you work with quick notes.
Remember, if you want to set up a quick note, while you're in one note, you go to the View tab, window group, new quick note. You can also use the Windows key and and it'll bring up the Quick note. In the next lectures, we're going to start going over utilizing OneNote in conjunction with Outlook
