Now some people get a little bit insecure. When conversations get into worldly topics like history, art, philosophy, literature. Some people love this stuff. Some people don't love this stuff, and that's fine. But then when they get into circles of people or conversations that tend to be around those topics, they feel a little bit left out and have low confidence and feel unworldly. If you're in that camp, here are some strategies for you to quit very quickly get up to speed Well, not very quickly, because there's a lot to there's a lot to be worldly, but there are some low hanging fruit.
Let's go over some strategies. First, here's the scope of what I feel makes a person worldly or you can also say educated because some education is to get a job like a computer science degree. Yeah, it's just to get a job. It's not like real education. Real education is you learn how to think to feel you learn the history, you learn. And how why things are?
Or in other words, you become a little classier. Hopefully. Right? That's education. So what does it have to do the you have to be aware of world and events history, art and art history, music and music history, thought history and philosophy, psychology topics, you have to be aware of politics and word politics came from why certain things are the way they are. And you have to be aware of current events.
Although at the moment, they're totally a mess and can actually make you a little bit less worldly in a way which is ironic. So those are, that's the part that makes people feel very underwhelmed and kind of have low confidence because it just seemed it's way too much. This stuff is way too much. So here are some shortcuts you should incorporate into your life. Maybe go to a museum once a month. In a year, you'll be like a museum buff compared to 90% of the population.
You can go to some shows thanks theater musicals opera, maybe one per month, maybe about every three months, depending on how much you want to take him. It's not that cheap also. So depends on your budget. But sometimes it's what's called food for your soul. And then it's priceless in a sense, also. So those are the things you can start doing quickly.
Also, you can watch documentaries on different topics that you feel you have gaps in your knowledge. Just watch documentaries, instead of like the sitcoms or whatever or sports on TV. Just watch something that's a little educational, but also interesting grabs your attention and interest. You can take up reading books, like classic literature is a great, great place to start. I mean, there are so many amazing books that will add so much to your life. And whatever else you feel is missing.
Like you can only read like one book, maybe a month, right? Because you're busy, you have a job and everything else. So the other parts of Filling in the gap are, you can YouTube things you can YouTube listen to podcasts, and even take online courses on different topics like history philosophy. You can get up to speed about the great writers, philosophers, and you can get up to speed about politics and politicians. So those are all things in the past, you had to study them all in like a college or didn't read. But now we have the internet.
So as long as you have an interest in curiosity for these things, there's so much information that is actually really easy to get the cliffsnotes basics and takeaways on almost every topic there is. So pretty quickly you'll get up to speed. Now here about structuring. Now let's talk about how to structure your human interactions. You should surround yourself with interesting people from whom you can learn and with whom you can have interesting conversations that you learn from each other and you make progress in certain conversations and ideas. And you can exchange ideas with them.
You should also if possible, I know it's pricey. Sometimes you can travel to different Different places and learn different things and see how different people live and see what you can take away from them. And incorporate into your own life. You should also try to engage in open minded conversations with people by open minded I mean, not trying to improve right or wrong, but really just trying to learn and see how people are what they think, kind of get a peek into their brain. And then you know, Incorporated somewhat incorporate some of it that makes sense into your worldview, and to see how you into into how you see things. Also locally, almost nowhere, almost anywhere you live, there's a ton of community and hobby groups, you can look up on meetup.com there's a lot of around every topic philosophy, psychology, literature, there's a lot of groups and interest groups and for the for the intellectually curious and you can start going there and listening and learning.
And of course, it's always very good to try to meet different kinds of people, different kinds of people, that all have different perspectives. So that way, you have a very good History, historical view, global view view of the world and off people and that essentially is essentially the difference the definition of becoming a worldly person. And you can do this all relatively quickly as opposed to taking years for this to develop.
