For our last layer of detail work for now I want to go in with my number one brush and little this black paint. And it's very important that I get the right consistency because I don't want it to be thick on my brush. And I don't want the color to be too harsh, I don't want it nearly as dark as up here. So I'm going to make a very sharp point, I'm just going to work on my strainer. So with a very sharp point, and barely touching the paper, I'm going to make a series of lines with a sharp point and a very slight curve a bunch of parallel lines, and I like to make them fairly thick at first, and then I come back, reload my brush, sharpen that point, and then I make a line in between each of the ones I did at first.
Then I'll flip my piece to the side. I'm going to cross them almost like a cross hatching. And again, I'll do the same procedure where at my first round of them are fairly thick in between. And then my second round I'll go in there and create a tight little sieve appearance. So we have that just like this. At this point, you can decide if you want to add jalapenos to the jar, this point of the recipe, you're going to chop the jalapenos and put it in a jar.
I like to create some jalapenos inside that jar. It's completely optional, and it's what you like. So what I do is I'll take some of this dark green. And again, I'm just rewedding what's on the palette from our previous step of making the jalapeno tops but you can just use dark green if you've already cleaned your palette. And I'm just going to make some little curved lines here. Start at the base.
I'm going to only fill a jar quarter of the way, maybe a little more Just like this, what you're looking at is the jalapenos are inside the jar. So they don't have to be as vibrant or as sharp. And then I'm going to go in here with some of this permanent green, this yellow green, and just create a little bit of spot of color right on top of all these lines that I've already added. And then we'll come in here and just add a few in the background just so it looks like hazy, like the jar is filled with them. We'll stop here, and we'll come back and just add a little shadow with our pigments.
