I want to share with you a metaphor of waterfall to make to help you make a distance between you and your thoughts. Imagine yourself standing under a waterfall. What happens is that the water is pushing you down, your hair are wet, your body is wet your clothes are wet and you are being pressurized by the water. Now imagine that these this water is actually your thoughts. Okay, realize the pressure okay? And at the same time realize that you are not the waterfall.
The water simply is running down your body. Similarly your thoughts are not you. It is something that happens in your mind. You are not in the content. You are the background. You have Thought that are something just going around coming and going, like the clouds in the sky.
So if you can sit down for a few minutes and visualize this scene, you can actually create a lot of distance between you and your thoughts.
