Hey everyone, welcome to this section. What is waste? The Japanese term for waste is muda. When we refer to waste in Lean Six Sigma, we are not referring to garbage that we throw in a dustbin. We are referring to waste related to our business process. Waste can be in any form in manufacturing, waste could be scrap in service waste could be making the customer wait.
That's a waste of time for him. In this section, you will learn about waste in detail. Before we proceed, let's take a stock of where we are in the journey of this program. So, you began with the first topic. What is lean? Then you learned about Lean pioneers.
You then understood everything about what is Toyota Production System. After that you began learning several lean tools including Poka Yoke, a Value Stream Map, and in the previous section you learned about five s. In this section, you will learn what is waste, and what are the different types of waste. By the end of the section you will understand the different types of waste, and we'll also learn to identify them within your business. Let's begin with the first lecture. What is waste
