Hey everyone, welcome to this lecture VSM icons. In this lecture, we will discuss the most used icons of a Value Stream Map. Let's begin. This is the customer or supplier icon. It represents the customers or the suppliers. If this icon is on the top left of the page, it refers to the supplier and if it is on the top right, it refers to the customer.
This is the process activity icon. It describes a fixed activity flow within a department. This is a Kaizen burst. This bubble highlights the improvement needs for that step. This is the operator icon. It displays the number of operators required to process the value stream.
This is the timeline icon. It shows cycle time wait times and downtimes it is used for calculating lead time and total cycle time. This is the go and see icon. It indicates that information is gathered in a particular step by observing this is the electronic info icon. It is used to indicate electronic flow such as the internet or intranet, electronic data interchange, local area network etc. This is the production can ban icon.
This signals a supplying process to provide the parts to another downstream process. This is the signal can bond icon. This is used when inventory levels between two processes drop to a minimum point. This is the inventory icon. It indicates inventory between two processes. This is the shipment cycle it indicates more movement of the raw material from one step to another.
This is the push arrow icon indicates pushing material from one process to another. This is the FICO icon. FICO stands for first in first out inventory.
