Welcome back, I'm Tanya, and in this video we'll go over the supplies that you will need for your one day one month freezer meal system. If you notice there are notes attached with your supply list. And that will help you when you need to go shopping. So the point of these lessons are to create meals that are going to work for your family. So your family may be bigger than mine or smaller than mine, or maybe you're on your own. And so you have to choose five pan to freeze the meals in that fix.

So for us, we have five in our family and this size, the two quart pans work the best, and they actually look really nice. So if I'm taking food too Somebody who has a new baby, I can give this to them and it looks very nice and then it's also disposable. So if they don't bring it back then I won't be sad. These plastic lids that come with this two quart casserole plan, I never use so I can just throw those away. If your family is bigger, you're going to go for a nine by 13 pan. If your family is smaller, maybe you're retired empty nesters and there's just two of you.

These muffin pans are the perfect size. If you're a college student on your own, and you're not living in the dorms anymore, so you have to prepare your own food. This will work for you. You don't need to eat fast food all the time. It's expensive to do real restaurants. And I can participate we do is cases or potpies and the pie pans leftover from when I went to Murray calendars work very well.

You're going to use these aluminum containers for meals that need to be cooked. So you'll start off with uncooked foods in the present. And then after it falls when you need them, you can cook them directly in these aluminum pans. Now our plastics, these are for things that you're going to cook some other way because you can't certainly cook in plastic. I started doing freezer meals 25 years ago, and it's just crazy for me to think that I was actually doing something consistently for 25 years because now I can older anything. This is what I bought way back in the 90s when I first started, and these are Rubbermaid plastic storage containers and I like them Because they are good size and they were the right size for my husband and I when we were starting out and I also like the shape you see when you have these in your freezer, this rectangle shape takes up very little width.

So you have a depth in your freezer and you don't want to hide things behind because then you don't know what's behind. So this is a nice long narrow depth. Alas my lids are cracking This one looks to be pretty good shape up. No There we go. My lips are cracking and so I don't have a good seal anymore in the freezer so I can't use these as much and Rubbermaid does not make them anymore. So I'm really sad.

The closest I could get and I looked everywhere. I finally found At The Container Store, and they're from an Australian company. I like the depth there a little wider than I need. But actually, since my family is bigger than just my husband and me, then the wider size does work. You know that this Australian plastic will work because it says yes, on the bottom. It says, pantry fridge freezer and microwavable too.

So you want to make sure that whatever you end up with, it works in your freezer. Now, these I can find all over the place at the store. And these Ziploc containers are freezer safe and they come in a lot of different sizes. This square size. It's not very deep, so that causes problems, things get hidden behind it. So I will use These, if I'm breathing a series of the same thing, a small amount of the same thing that I can just put them deep in my freezer, but they do have these round ones which are great for sauces.

Now you're going to have to definitely use labels with your plastic things. Now for our aluminum that's going to go into the freezer. And then as we oven, you're going to wrap in aluminum foil and it has to be heavy duty, whatever brand new use make sure it says heavy duty and you're going to want both width. So this one is the standard width and this one is so long that it doesn't fit in my pant in my kitchen. I have to store this one in the garage, which is inconvenient, but that's just how it is. And then when I'm labeling aluminum foil or with bad I just use my Sharpie to write directly on the aluminum foil or the baggy baggies again, you're going to need to make sure they are freezer safe where does it say freezer safe?

You probably see it and I don't This one is not freezer safe. Do not use this one for your freezer free do work all hard and you'll store it and then it will go bad in the freezer so don't use one that did not say freezer safe. Yeah, it doesn't think I caught that. This one in big letters says freezer and you know the fly. I like the slide. I don't want to sit there and try to finish Close my baggie.

So, go ahead and get the slide. You're gonna need a straw, because part of what you're going to do is make a vacuum and suck the air out of whatever it is you freezing. It's kind of weird, but it actually works. So you're gonna suck out the air and then close it really quick and you'll have a nice feel. It's air that causes freezer burn. So you want to keep air away from your food as much as possible.

With some things like breads and pastries, you'll need saran wrap. Here is a standard cupcake pan, muffin pan and this is really good for creating small amounts of something. So personalized occasions personalized scrambled eggs Personalized muffins and this Believe it or not, is an ice cube tray. And this ice cube tray is a little odd because it has rubberized sections here but that's really good for popping out whatever it is that you froze. So little tiny bits of herbs, little tiny bits of sauces or flavored butters you can freeze and then pop out and put in. They work really well.

The last thing that you need is fruit fresh. Now fruit keeps ripening as it sits on your counter. So to stop fruit from ripening and going bad, you use vitamin C powder which is the organic acid. So proof fresh is korvac acid. Okay, so these Are the extra special things that you'll need for your freezer meals and now we'll go over the standard kitchen supplies that you'll need. Here are the standard kitchen tools that you will need.

You probably already have them. They are also listed on the supply list in the notes. You'll need some way to grate cheese and some way to open cans. This is my favorite. This is a Teflon sheet. I use it all the time on my baking sheets and it keeps foods from sticking.

And also to keep foods from sticking some cooking spray. You will need a pan to cook things on and to freeze things on. On your Teflon sheet goes right on it. You need a way to slice and dice your vegetables and fruits and meet you'll need something to stir with. Really good balls to story in and I have even bigger balls than this. Isn't this so cute?

I love this. It's a big spiral slotted spoon, or my standard slotted spoon. You need a pot for blanching your vegetables, and we'll explain what that means in a future lesson. You need a way to obtain vegetables and meats. You need a way to drain your pasta. You need a way to measure everything.

I know it seems like a lot, but don't worry, we're just getting started. Look at the supply list. Look at the homework and I will see you next lesson. Joy lab learning
