You may be surprised with how full your shopping cart gets when you shop for freezer meals, how much it costs when you do go shopping for your freezer meals. But just remember, you're making many dinners out of this. This will cover a long period of time, and you're buying in bulk, which saves money over time. So next, I'm going to teach you how to charge your prep work for your freezer meals. Here's our prep plan for the ground beef dinners.
I'll go through one recipe at a time and make the marks and this will really be efficient and help us save time preparing to make our dinners for the Browns For meatloaf it says we sauteed onions and butter until transparent and it is how much onion one onion. So that means we have four onions and a saute one veggie diced and sauteed in butter one of those onions, nothing in step two and step three, we have the saltine crackers that need to be crushed up. So that will be in our grains. We'll say saltines crushed and it is three fourths cup. That's what we can do to prep for our brown sugar meatloaf. Or potatoes.
I Ella. Oh we have to Peel lots of potatoes. All right, so no we don't dice it. But we do potatoes. Five pounds peeled. And then once they're peeled, we need to boil them.
So I'm going to add and boiled. That's it for refrigerated potatoes. For the Cornish pasty. We have the ground beef and we need to brown it. So ground beef and it's half pound veggies dice and sauteed in butter This is a carrot and it's Tez one third cup grated so we have one third cup grated carrots, that's going to be sauteed in butter I'm yen and it's also we have one third of an onion diced and sauteed in butter that's it for the Cornish pasty for spicy rice skillet. The to ground two pounds of ground beef.
So two pounds. That's not 11 it's two one onion, diced and sauteed in butter, oh, green bell pepper diced and sauteed in butter Looks like that's it. It's spicy rice skillet. meatballs to remember I don't make the meatballs. So I'm gonna just brown one pound of ground beef cans opened and drained. We have our potatoes Ah, remember the Cornish pasty?
That one had potatoes too. that needed to be brown, drained, opened and drained. Forgot carrots for carrots, sliced. Okay, so here we have carrots. They're not sauteed in butter but they are cut up I'm ready for carrot so I don't think I need four cups of carrots it's four carrots. And then for the meatballs do there's also another onion that needs to be diced and thought aid and butter.
Okay, I think we're good. Our last recipe the lazy lasagna. Pasta, the eight ounces pasta boiled so Penny Penny, however you say that eight ounces. Ground beef one pound. Half of an onion. Oh, great a carrot.
So it's one half. No, it's one cup. One cup of graded. So one third cup graded and one cup graded. So one third and one. Then we need to shred some cheese mozzarella as one and a half cups and parmesan comes shredded.
Good. There's our prep plan. Let's get to work. So you see, I have a lot of onion to prepare, so I don't have to do one onions sauteed another onions sauteed in butter, I can chop all of these onions up and talk to them in a big old pot all together. Same with the ground beef gets really slimy and greasy so be careful you don't get splattered, but I can prepare all of this ground beef in advance. Pot all together.
Then once we arrange our assembly line, I'll divide the meat and the onions up again. So we're saving time. By doing all this work all together. You really should prep your food and store it for another day. It takes a lot of time to dice a bunch of onions or shred a load of chicken breasts. But for this ground beef prep video lesson, I will place items in my assembly line as I prepare them.
I've placed a paper copy of each recipe in my assembly area so I will know what ingredients go with which recipe Ready, set, go. The ground beef comes first. Some of it is raw, some is brown all together then divided among the recipes cooked rice Oh I forgot to write this on my prep plan. Two cups of dry rice becomes four cups cooked rice. Cheese. Where Where does the cheese go?
Potato cans. Pasta, raw carrots crashed into crackers. Oops wrong place. Cooked carrots. I ended up with more than I needed to save the extra cooked carrots for one of our chicken recipes. hot potatoes boiled and drained or onion, diced and sauteed in butter.
I can just estimate measurements when I divide up the onions bell pepper, that's the last ingredient. Time to do a happy dance. Joy lab learning done right
