Hi and welcome, you've made the right decision to join this class. Nowadays, we all aim at increasing our productivity by improving different aspects in everyday routine. It is an important task that leads to success and satisfaction in our work sphere in particular, and our life experience as a whole. In this lecture, we'll be talking about one of the main productivity principles, setting priorities, setting priorities. It is a way to easily organize an effective schedule and achieve your goals. When we consider our priorities, we have to bear in mind that there is no universal list to choose from.

It depends on us to make the right choice for ourselves according to our own job, lifestyle goals, personal life beliefs and values. In this sense, prioritizing is a task we need to address carefully, because it is as much about work as it is about life in general. Another important point related to priorities is the skill to invest the proper amount of time in them. A successful technique to accomplish this is the so called Pareto principle, named after Italian economist vilfredo Pareto. According to it for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes, which in our case, could be paraphrased is 80% of the results come from 20% of the work. In other words, it is the concentrated effort that counts in leads to actual results, not the literal time scheduling.

Let's talk about defining work priorities first. It is a process you cannot just go through incomplete once and for all you should regularly review and rethink them, save new ones, eliminate outdated ones and transform them according to your current status. Look at your work situation and consider where are you right now? Where do you want to be in a given amount of time? What can you do to achieve that? Be realistic in specific, long term goals are important, of course, but it is the short term was that actually lead us to them.

Find filter in focus on people activities that have a positive influence on you and try to avoid unproductive walls, synchronize your working life expectations and be consistent and patient. This is the equilibrium needed to achieve completeness, which in its turn, helps you build successful productivity patterns.
