In this lesson video, we are going to cover different methods of resetting the transformation values. Sometimes we need to reset the transformation of an object to its default values. If, for example, I move this monkey, and then do some non uniform scale on it, and then also add some rotation. This monkey object now has a lot of transformation happening on it, position, rotation and scale. To see the transformation values of a selected object, we can press n to open the viewport sidebar panel, we can see the position or coordinates here. These are the rotational angles in degree and these are the scale values.

We can also access these values through the properties editor on the right side, click on this Object Properties panel. You can see the location, rotation and scale values, just like what we have in a sidebar panel. So to reset the transform You can do this in several ways, first using the shortcuts, then second using the menu third by typing in the values next using the right click method. And finally, using the backspace method, let's discuss each of these methods one by one. For first is using the shortcuts. To reset the position, we can press out G, we can see the coordinates of the monkey model is now at 000, or at the center of the world.

To reset the rotation, we can use our now we can see each of the axes angles are all at zero degrees. And the monkey is now facing straight at the negative y axis again. Next, to reset the scale we can press out s. As you can see, the default scale values are not zero but one. So again to recap of GE to reset the position of power To reset the orientation, and finally, all s to reset the scale. Now if you forget the shortcuts, you can always use the second method, and that is by using the menu. To do this, go to the Object menu here, then choose clear sub menu.

Here, we can see all of the commands and the shortcuts for resetting the transformation. Let me undo this again. So we have our transformed monkey back, okay, sometimes we need to reset only one or two transformation access and not all of them. For example, you want to move an object down to the ground plane, but you don't want it to move to the center of the world. If you know exactly which transformation and which axis you want to reset, you can just type in the value in the sidebar or in the Properties editor here. If you want to move this object to the ground plane, then click on the z axis location and then type z Zero.

Remember, the default value for a location and rotation is zero, and the default value for a scale is one, okay? If you want to reset two or three values at the same time, for example, the x and y values here, we can click and drag like this. Then at this stage, you can type in any value you want. But if you want to reset it, then you need to type zero and then enter. Another example. Let's say you want to reset the object's scale, you can click and drag like this to select all of the excess input fields, then press one, then enter.

Now this method of inputting values can be used with any other input fields in lender. So this is not limited to just the transformation values. Let me undo this several times again. The next method is by right clicking on the input fields, we can right click on a single input field here and choose preset single to default value, this will reset only the value that we right click to the default. We can also right click and choose this one reset all to default values, this will reset all of the values in input fields belong to the same group. So for example, if you right click here in one of the scalar values, and then just reset all the default values, this will reset all of the x, y and z scalar values at the same time.

Let me undo this again. The last method of resetting the values is by using the backspace method. To do this, first, you need to hover your mouse cursor on top of the input field you want to reset. Now without clicking anything with the mouse, just press the backspace key on the keyboard. Notice the value will reset back to its default. So again, just hover the mouse then press the backspace key.

This method also works for other input fields in random So this is not limited to just resetting transformation values
