The trust formula. It sounds scientific. Actually it is. And I'm quite excited about this. Things like trust can be difficult to understand to grasp to measure. So how can you work on something that is not tangible?

Well, this dress formula is putting a science behind the word. If it's a nominalization, as they would say, in NLP, which is not something you could put in a box, actually, here, I'm giving you a tangible way to work on trust, not just for yourself, but actually, a tool that you can use with your team, with each individual have been using this not long ago with some member of my team. Katherine was looking for ways to improve the stakeholder relationships she had with deployment directors, those were senior level people, and she felt like she could do more, but she didn't know how, and she knew what to focus on. So we use together the trust formula and we looked at a dimension of this trust formula. And he gave her concrete ways on how to increase her level of trust with these people. Let's come back to that when we know the trust formula.

So, there are four elements in trust. The trust formula is, first of all the combination of your credibility. And you have now a clear way to assess your credibility. We've done that already. If you haven't, go back to the previous video, and learn all about credibility and how you can improve it. Your reliability, your intimacy, and all those three combined divided by your self orientation, or your intent.

Reliability has to do with action. How much assurance do people have when you promised to deliver something on a certain date are they sure that you're going to deliver it on time and at the right level of quality. That's reliability. intimacy is about rapport. It's about liking. It's about your relationships as individuals.

Remember, we're human beings before we workers. So, to have trust with someone, you need to have a certain level of rapport. Also, in intimacy, there is something around having a security and safety about sharing information. Do people know with certainty that you are going to keep the information they share with you as confidential, if they ask you not to violate what they're disclosing, this is important. They want to be able to trust you. This comes down to intimacy and then self orientation.

It's about someone's focus. It is primarily the question on Who do you focus Is it yourself or others? Do you care about adding value to your stakeholders? Do you care about the impact of what you're delivering on others? This is your self orientation. And people trust others who care about the impact and the effect of what they do, and who has the best interest of their stakeholders in mind.

So how do you go about using the trust formula in the work environment, the trust formula is giving you an indication on the four dimensions that you can focus on to increase the level of trust you have with any stakeholder. So in the second tool that is part of this course, you're going to be able to assess yourself on each of these dimensions. And this will provide you insights on where you have the most opportunities, the biggest opportunities to increase your trust. So if we bring back the example of In which I mentioned before, Katherine was really high on her level of credibility and reliability, and she had the best intent in mind. So that was not the problem. And she realized that the level of intimacy could be better.

She realized that she wasn't spending so much time in building the relationships with her stakeholders. She was focusing 100% on work. And in order to lead to increase your level of trust, she needed to go an extra mile in building the relationships in getting to know the people in understanding their main challenges and how she could continue to add even more value to them. And that meant spending a bit more time individually to get to know each other. That was for her, what was missing? What's missing for you?
