Did you know that over 30,000 websites a day are hacked? Did you know that cybercrime costs the global economy 450 billion dollars every year? And did you know that this year in one day alone, over a million and a half WordPress websites were hacked due to one single vulnerability? If you think that online security doesn't apply to you, because maybe your website is very little, and you don't make a lot of money with it, then you are mistaken. cyber criminals use a sophisticated software on a variety of stolen machines to scan the internet looking for vulnerable sites. They don't care if your site is big or small, is a nonprofit or makes a lot of profit.

To them. A hacked website is more money. This course is for everybody. With an interest in online security, anyone with a website and too much common causes of WordPress hacks are one passwords that have been correctly guessed by brute force attack or stolen two out of date software, if you have passwords online that are easy for you to remember, so you can type them in. That means they are a security hazard and they should be changed straightaway. If you have the same password used on more than one site, then that is also a security vulnerability and you should change that straightaway.

I'll be showing you in the course how you can use a password manager to only use incredibly secure passwords. Furthermore, I can explain to you again in simple terms, how you can make sure your WordPress website is up to date, not only with the WordPress software, but all the software that you use to run your website on a server and I can show you How to make sure this stays up to date in the future. There's plenty more in that section because we talked about your home directory and Webroot that also needs securing. I will also show you how to set up and install the wordfence security plugin, which is a fantastic free plugin that provides a firewall and blocks multiple attempts at guessing passwords and provide other security scanning procedures daily to your website to keep your website safe and secure. Backing up is a really important part of your WordPress security arsenal.

Because if you have any sort of problem with your site, or it gets hacked, you go back to the copy that you made a few days ago, a few weeks ago a few months ago, and restore from that copy.
