So the next section is about one of the two most common causes of hacks, and updated software. But there's more to this section than just telling you to keep WordPress, its themes and plugins up to date. You might already know that, but there's so much more to this subject. Because there are software that your host uses to run the site, you have to make sure that's up to date. But also we talk about what else is on there on your server on the home directory and the web root, because you need to make sure you are familiar with what should be there and what shouldn't be there to see if there's anything there. That will be a vulnerability and a possible backdoor into your website that hackers can use.

There's much more to say about directory listing and error reporting. So there are a lot of steps to go through.
