Hello, this is Rob just a few quick extra points about wordfence. Now if you've watched the last video, you will be up to date with wordfence. I've just got a few extra things to say. As some of you may have trouble with either the firewall not enabling properly, or with speed. If you're on a cheap shared server, then you might be experiencing slowness in wet in WordPress as a result of the settings I advised you to make. First thing to check when you go into the wordfence dashboard is that the firewall is enabled with extended protection.
Remember, we went into the firewall and we went into learning mode for one week, after which the extended protection was enabled and protecting automatically we didn't have to change anything. If that is not the case with you, you will get an error message up here, asking you to make some changes to the PHP dot ini file in your home directory. Now, don't worry about this because if you cannot make that change, just contact your host and tell them what wordfence is telling you in the error message or the alert up here, and they will sorted out for you. I contacted wordfence about this and they told me as long as the firewall status enabled and protecting, then you're fine. So this is just if you cannot get your firewall status enabled and protect it after a week, then you should look into this fix with the PHP dot ini.
So the second thing to talk about is if your WordPress website is running slow if you're worried about speed, I'm going to tweak a few settings. This will speed up your WordPress website. So we go to options and scroll down under Advanced Options. And then under scans to include right down the bottom here. Remember I and I checked these to scan your files outside your WordPress installation, and scan images, binary and other files as if they were executable, they are unchecked by default, so you can leave them unchecked by default if you're worried about speed. Similarly, if you scroll down further to login security options, count failures over what time period and put it to a shorter time period, like five minutes, and then you can save options.
And that will speed up your WordPress website if you are noticing some issues with speed on your server. Last thing to check if you go into live traffic. We didn't mention this but you have to make sure that site activity in real time is on. So that's it a few tweaks to WordPress. I hope you like this video. My name is Rob carbon.
I'll see you in another video.
