Okay, welcome back. The next thing we want to talk about is something pretty similar to Article Marketing, but blogs. Okay, so we're going to talk about how to actually do your blogging for local businesses. So why should you blog? Well, there's a few reasons. One, you want to keep your customers up to date on relevant news and information.
So when you write an article, you, you know, you write the article, and you send it out there and it just kind of stays forever, which is why it's a good idea to write what they call evergreen articles, which, you know, are timeless, they continue to be relevant regardless of what changes on a day to day basis in the industry. But when you blog, you're pretty much writing about something current, okay? You're you're writing about something current in the industry current to the situation of today's news. So it's important to do both, okay, you want to do article marketing, you also want to blog. It's going to give people a reason to return to your website as well. Visitors are also going to have something to share with others.
And this is key, okay? If you if you do blogging and use WordPress, like I'm going to talk to you about, you can put little share buttons on your blog that you've probably seen already, that people can click on and share with their Facebook friends and tweet to their Twitter followers and, you know, plus one there Google friends and share with LinkedIn and you know, Pinterest and all that. Okay, so it's going to be very important to have this because essentially, what happens is your customer base ends up becoming, you know, your greatest asset as far as you know, selling your content, because they're the ones out there, giving it to other people, and they're sharing it with other people. And if you've ever heard that word of mouth advertising is the best. Well, that's correct. And social media is kind of the word of mouth of the internet.
Okay, so it's important to have these blogs with these share buttons. It's also fresh content for search engines. Okay, you can get an article out there, it can rank in the search engines and it can be there for a certain keyword or a really long time. But when you're blogging, you're constantly putting up fresh content. And you can have several of your blog posts ranking in the search engines, and several different ways for people to get back to your website. And that's kind of the key is to have a lot of different content out there.
A lot of different ways for people to find you a lot of different things for people to share. And it's really just another source of traffic. Okay, so this way you're diversifying your traffic, you're not relying on one, you know, medium completely for all of your traffic, you're getting traffic from lots of different sources. And that way, if one source ends up failing you or stops working, or you get out ranked in Google for one of your articles, you've got all these blogs and other sources out there that are bringing in traffic as well. So it's not that big of a deal. Okay, and WordPress is what I recommend that you use.
Okay? I recommend that you use wordpress.org and not wordpress.com. Okay. wordpress.com is going to be hosted by WordPress, which I never really liked because that's basically somebody else owning my content, so to speak, okay, so they can take it down at any time. They kind of have no control of, of the traffic and I'm not really a big fan of that. I like wordpress.org because it's a free service.
They basically give you some files that you can put on your website that allow you to turn your website into a blog. Okay, it's very easy to install. Most hosting platforms have the cPanel with the built in fantastico Deluxe, which is the installer that installs all these fun little software's on your, our software on your site. So it's easy to install. It's also very user friendly. Setting up a blog on WordPress is very easy to do.
It's fully customizable. Okay. WordPress blogs are search engine friendly. Okay, the search engines love WordPress. There's lots of plugins you can put on to optimize your search engine rankings. Okay, you can put an SEO plugin on there that allows you to add keywords to the different meta tags and in all the different tags that we've talked about, okay, there's lots of different things you can do.
You can have plugins for the search buttons we've talked about. So WordPress is it's really awesome. And I definitely recommend that if you're doing any kind of marketing for a local business, that you go on their website, you create a WordPress page which is their blog, which you can constantly update information on and send more traffic back to the main site.
