All right, welcome back. In this video, we're going to talk about the next thing you can do for your clients which is optimize their websites. So we're going to optimize your client's website, particularly, particularly for the search engines. Okay? So when you're optimizing your site for visitors, you want to make sure a couple of guidelines are being followed you won't have a clean look and feel. Okay, make sure the site that you're optimizing doesn't have too many different colors, too much stuff going on.
Okay? It needs to be very clean, very easygoing on the eyes. So when when customers come, they're not bombarded with all this different stuff, it's very easy to figure out where to go. So very easy to navigate. Make sure that you avoid too much flash or content that takes a while to load. Remember, not everybody has, you know, high speed internet.
So sometimes if you've got a slow connection, some of these flash and videos can take a long time to load and the customers just bounce off. It should work on most popular browsers ideally, all browsers so Internet Explorer, Firefox, and chrome Those are the three big ones. Besides should also be mobile optimized. Okay, if you don't know how to mobile optimize the site, it's basically a code you put on. There's tons of software out there that you can get that will just automatically do this for you and produce the code. This works really great for restaurants.
That way when somebody goes on the site through their mobile phone and kind of the menu pops up, and it's just really easy to use, make sure most important info goes above the fold. Okay, so that's above the area before you start scrolling down. Okay, so if there's an opt in list or you know, important information about the business that the customer needs to know right away, that all goes above the fold. You also want to have a call to action, okay, you wanna have your purchase pages, you want the lead capture pages, you know, whatever the business owners goals are, make sure there's a call to action and it's above the fold and the customer can see it. You also want to have the contact information easily accessible. If somebody is driving around on their car.
They're looking for a restaurant to eat Now they're gonna be able to call that number really quickly. Okay? awards accreditations easily visible, okay, so people know that that exactly right when they get on the site, they know that this is a credible business. And then also you want to have your testimonials as well. So when it comes to optimizing for the search engines, you want to make sure that you determine target keywords, okay, the content must be relevant to the keywords. So make sure that whatever keywords you're targeting, when they land on your site that the site's relevant.
You would have one target keyword or phrase per page, okay. And then also locally, targeted keywords and phrases are often fairly easy to rank for. So you know, refrigerator repair may be a tough one to rank for. But Chicago refrigerated repair is going to be a little bit easier to rank for than, you know, just that standard keyword. You also want to offer optimize your meta tags. Okay, so becoming less important as Google's out.
Okay, so this is becoming less important as Google's algorithm gets better at scanning the content of pages, but it's still a good idea to do for now. Okay, so for your title tag, you want to make sure you begin with the keyword or phrase for your description tag, you want to use the keyword in your description tag. For your keyword tag, you want to make sure you put your target keyword or phrase first, then a few other relevant keywords following it. Okay, you're also have your robots tag, your index follow this is so Google will index your pages. Okay. There's also your header one tag, okay, that's one per page using keyword Okay, so make sure you have one header tag per page using the keyword that you're trying to target.
You also want to use your keyword and image alt tags, okay, so use keywords in your domain. So www dot Chicago refrigerator pair.com is a great domain. Okay, it's got the keyword in it. The next best would be www clients website.com slash Chicago refrigerator red air. Okay, so either way you've got the keyword in the domain. When it comes to content for search engine optimization, it must be extremely relevant to the target keyword or phrase, okay, grammar and sentence structure should be correct.
Don't overuse keywords, don't stuff keywords in the article. Don't make it to where you know, somebody gets there. And it's not even something you can read. It's just a bunch of keywords because people leave those pages very quickly. Just have the keywords sprinkled throughout the content of the page, but just be sure they make sense in the context of the text. You should ideally have 350 plus words on pages and only if this fits the overall feel of the site.
Okay, it should make sense and be aesthetically pleasing. To site visitors. And you also want to make suggestions or recommendations as a consultant. Offered if an offer to implement changes for an additional fee, okay, you can do it yourself. Or they can outsource elance.com or you can partner with a web designer or developer. Okay, so there's many different options that you can offer the business owners.
So one example could be, you could go to the business owner and say, Look, okay, I'll do this for you, or here's what I think you should do, and that's one fee, or then maybe you'll do it for them. Okay, and that's a whole nother fee. Okay, or maybe you can have some fun, do it on Elance or get yourself a partner. Okay, so there's lots of different ways to do this. But just make sure that, you know, when you're going in there, you're not just giving them everything, and then walking away. Okay.
Most of the time, they're gonna want some help with this most business owners Aren't expert web designers. They don't know exactly how to do all this. So be prepared to have kind of a service that you perform and actually doing it as well as consulting.
