Moving on to being on the road, this is going to be a practical video of transportation and hostels. Again, very different experiences and mostly latinamerica. When it comes to transportation, you need to be street smart about its meaning you kind of need to know where you are headed and talk about, talk about it to your fellow travelers that you meet and hospitals asked recommendation of certain bus agencies or taxi companies that they use, because it's gonna save your life sometimes, especially when it comes to taxes. My personal experience from Columbia was that even the local stuff in the street and they explained what I need to be careful about. Again, this is where planning comes handy. But I didn't do it I rather us so when I arrived the destination I talked to the locals right away and I find that Are the unwritten rules that I need to follow?

How do I order taxi? What are the taxi that I stayed to get into? Also, same thing about buses, same thing about chicken buses, and even the tooktook because there are loads of different transportation. And from my experience, they were all safe. But I heard stories from other people that were kind of horror stories. And I tried not to make their mistake or learn from their experiences.

But personally, me I never had a trouble. And when I was traveling in Central America, they have these really cool chicken buses want to go local when I go someplace to have this experience. Now it can be awkward sometimes because maybe I'm the only white girl on the bus. But I engage with the culture. And I want to have that experience because as I said, this is not necessarily about always the conference, but how it makes me feel what I see what I learned. So transportation basically means that it will get you from A to B and how you do that.

You have 1001 options so you kind of need to know what your stress level is and what you prioritize. I had no problem sitting in a cheap as bus overnights when you travel for so long and you want to stretch your dollar, you can take night buses and save a night at a hospital, which is what I did. Also the same thing happened when my flight was so early, I decided to spend the night at the airport instead. Because I would have had to leave my hostel at 2am anyway, which is a very uncomfortable hour to travel at night in dangerous places. I never stopped at the airport I did three by bus stations, which is highly not recommended at all I would prefer in airports if people accept the fact that you just rolled out your map there and your pillow and just crush the night Believe it or not.

I love the other person idea for most airports where I slept there were at least 10 other people waiting for their flight. Let's talk about hospitals. So being on the road for a long time. A traveler in Latin America specifically, hospitals are huge. I lived for more than one year in hospitals. What about you and yours?

Hospitals there are key differences between I think two major kinds. One is a party monster one is a non party person. I was this a great for a short period of time, but from my experience is best to stay the night someplace else. And then maybe go and party and then go home, depending on what you're looking for. I met people who traveled for shorter periods and they stayed in hostels because that's what they needed. But for a year I can do that.

So a hostel is uncomfortable or the enough because we are sharing the intimate space with 10 other people in a room sometimes. So a good night's sleep was worth it more for me than having fun all night. Our bed being uncomfortable is something that we have to accept as travelers and so what I learned is I kind of like to party hostels just to hang out, but when I was done, I really wanted to have my quiet room and my quiet space. face to sleep. So what you do is you look for a hospital that is quiet and nice and cozy around walking distance from a party hospital. So you could still have the benefits of having dreams and meeting people because probably hostels usually are very social.

But yes, having a good night's sleep is of the essence when you're traveling, because it is exhausting. I feel like they're party also is a vacation from a vacation. So during traveling, I spent a week there and a lot of fun and then I moved back to nice hostel where I could sleep and moving on to different accommodation. Maybe some of you guys haven't heard of couchsurfing on Airbnb, which are also options. We're going to post more details below this video. And now I think it's important to mention work and volunteering, which could also come with a foundation and money but not just earning money, but keeping the costs low.

For example, volunteering. I've done quite a bit of it for short periods of time. Now some options is that they give you a commendation for free in exchange for work, or sometimes food as well. And I heard people even earning money through volunteering. So this helped to lower my costs and to spend enough time in one place to really get to know the local culture and the area. And the people in the hospital is when you travel for a long period of time, you're not earning money.

So as funny also mentioned, you want to really take the max out of every dollar. So what you do is you offer your services in exchange for food and or a roof over your head. But I also moved around from city to city and Bolivia and in Colombia, where would work one week or two weeks in the hospital or at a farm but just a little bit of a work here because in a state that we don't usually make money during traveling. That's not the case for everyone. Again, it depends if you want to make money you can you can make jewelry, you can work online. You can take our jobs here and there.

And those people who travel for years at the time, they do take jobs all the time. In my case, I did work, but not constantly. I just felt like if an opportunity came that I took it, and at least I made some money, but the idea of this trip wasn't to make money, but at least it had me out here and there. That's a good point because the beginning of our traveling was not being the digital nomad. For me traveling was just to relax and to not do anything.
