Let's begin by selecting a group of cells to create our range name off of. So I've got my 2018 sales selected, I go to the name box, and type sales 2018. When you create a range name, there's no spaces allowed no special characters. The first character has to do with the letter, it could start with a number. And then the benefit of having that is that we can go in at any place and type it within a formula here. So as I start to type sales 2018 is going to have that look at the formula bar sales 2018.
So anybody who is looking at that would be able to see that a nice bonus tip. If you ever come across a range name in the formula bar, you go to the Formulas tab, you click trace precedents, and it will show you where those cells are being pulled from within the setting here
