Now, before we go any further, just a quick note on organization. I've mentioned family history software. And I highly recommend that you invest in one of these programs. However, as you research your family history, you will also get the copies of documents. And you'll need to find a way of keeping these safely and in a way that you can find them easily. It's beyond the scope of this course to go into depth about how to keep family papers together and it would be terrific.
But I strongly suggest that you decide how you're going to keep all your documents together. The website my history.com has many items that will help you keep your documents safely together. And you can also purchase your family tree software here too. Another thing that you should consider before you start serious research is your budget. Well, family has Straight not an expensive hobby, you will need to pay out for websites, subscriptions and copies of documents from time to time. You may also want to visit some of the places that your ancestors lived.
And that of course will incur travelling costs. So I recommend that you set up a monthly budget that will cover at least a couple of websites subscriptions and the costs of buying certificates and so on. If you live outside of the UK ordering certificates can be quite costly. So I definitely suggest a monthly budget to start with around 30 to 50 pounds. If you want to order lots of certificates or more if you want to spend, you know many hours on this and you know get all the certificates you can so you know that is entirely up to you. But I do suggest that you Set your monthly budget and keep to it because otherwise, your spending can easily get out of hand.
