Welcome back. I hope that writing your intentions has been revealing, do keep them with you as you go through the course, because it's great to have a vector to understand what you're trying to get out of this. And that will help you to extract exactly the juice that you need from this course. Now, I said there were nine sections, let's just explore those in a little more detail. Chapter one, this section we're in now, this chapter is the introduction where we've got to know each other a little bit. And also we're going to be looking at the power of sound.
That's incredibly important, your voice is just sound. And we'll be looking at the four effects of sound on all human beings, and how powerful it is, in general, which will help you enormously to understand the power of the voice. Chapter Two, we'll be starting to look at the skills of speaking and listening in much more detail and in particular, We're looking at the circle, how speaking and listening affect each other, and context as well. Chapter Three, we'll be looking at how you speak, and how you listen, the mechanics, the actual process. These are not necessarily best done unconsciously, as you will learn throughout this course. And the more conscious you become of the processes, the better you'll be at doing these things.
In chapter four, we venture into the dark side. The Dark Side is the holes in your bucket. It's the things that rob you of power, the habits that we all have, you may have some of them not all of them probably may just have one or two of them. Nevertheless, I'm sure you'll find things in there that you'll be able to assess, and there'll be exercises which will help you to stop doing the things that really remove the power in your communication. In chapter five, we'll go into listening in depth, as I've said, listening underpins speaking, if you can listen well. You can speak well.
And it's very difficult to be a powerful speaker if you don't have the right listening. So we'll be understanding in chapter five, how to listen consciously. Chapter Six, we move into the speaking how to create great content will be answering the question at various points, which is more important content or delivery. How do those two things relate? Well, chapter six is all about content. And if you've ever had the feeling, people don't listen to me, I can't get my words out, right.
I can't organize my thoughts, effectively, something that many people have said to me when I've trained them, this section is going to be for you. At the end of it, you'll understand exactly how to create perfect content for every eventuality. In chapter seven, we go into the vocal toolbox. Now if you've seen my TED Talk, you'll understand there is a vocal toolbox and you will have had a brief introduction to it in this chapter. We will go into it in detail. We'll look at each tool, how to use it effectively.
We'll discuss Cover exercises which will help you to be a master of every one of those tools and to understand how to use the entire toolbox in harmony in order to be a great speaker. In chapter eight, it's called fit to speak in chapter eight, we look at the physicality of speaking. Now, I'm going to introduce an expert who happens to be my fiance, Jane Majidi, who is a five times sorry, a four times, World Champion, martial artist, and the yoga expert. Jane is absolutely brilliant at understanding how your body is involved in speaking, if you think about it, you're using your body all the time to speak. breath is your voice. So how you breathe, how you stand, how you prepare, how you warm up.
These are all incredibly powerful things which have helped me enormously over the years to become a better and better speaker. So in chapter eight, you'll discover how to be fit to speak and in the final chapter, to chapter nine, we take it on to the arena that most people find quite scary the platform, the stage speaking to groups of people, sometimes it might be a few. Sometimes it might be hundreds or even thousands of people you have to speak to most people find that quite daunting. At the end of chapter nine, you'll have all the tools you need, and the practice to be a great public speaker, as well as a great private speaker. So there we have the course. I'm looking forward to going through the nine chapters with you.
That's a lot of work. And I think it's time now that we just take a moment out to understand why does this matter?
