Okay, let's talk planting graphics. So when we are doing planting graphics, what we are basically doing, it's trying to create this 3d image or impression on a 2d sheet of paper. So we're going to be using line weight, basically the thickness of the line to elevate the graphics of the paper. So the thicker the line, the more it's gonna jump off the paper. And the thinner the line, the more it's going to recede away from us visually. So how do you create this type of graphics?
Well, we are basically layering our planting graphics in the way to give it a more of a depth. So we are working with the economics we work with the diameter of the of the tree of the plant and also the scale that you work in with. So I'm going to take the circle template that's appropriate for the size of the plant. circulate with a pencil and then take a sharpie. And just going to create a series of dots on the line and then pick on side and create a shadowing effect and put a middle.at the center of the plant. And now I can draw some planting underneath.
With this kind of cloud drawing as I don't know what the individual plants will be. At this point, it doesn't really matter, we can just label it planting. If I want some hedging, I can just draw a rectangle up at a desired size. And again, just go over it with a sharpie or a pen and just follow the edging all the way around and then come in with a finer pen and create a little bit of texture within this. If I want a specimen plant, maybe an ornamental grass or series of them, just put your circle template in and literally just bounce back and forth to create the grassy mess. Look up to scale.
And now I can put a bigger specimen tree and rather than doing the shadowing effect, I'm going to just lightly go over the line and then come back to it and throw some extra fine lines at the center of the tree. I'm trying to keep the Sharpie as vertical as possible to prevent any smudging. If I want to have a conifer in let's say, again, just use a surfer template and bounce back and forth and then go in with a final one and do the same to give you the extra texture. I could do some ground cover also with just some fine clouding. So during the conceptual planting graphics can actually go pretty quick. When you use in those little tips and tricks to help you to create those visuals.
Just remember the ball that the line the more it's going to jump off the paper. The thinner the line, the more is going to recede away visually, and we're going to amplify this even to a greater depth once we go through the color rendering, so this is the basics of planting graphics. Again, thank you very much for watching. I also put the resources in the downloadable area for you so you can download it and I will see you the next lesson.
