Now that we've thrown both of our sections, it's time to start putting them together. So the first thing we need to do is trim my cup around the bottom to line up with our STEM that we threw yesterday. Now, I call these simple sectionals because each section is thrown in the vertical position or the upright position compared to some sectionals where you're actually going to be flipping them upside down on top of each other, which we'll talk about here shortly. But the reason why I come from the simple sectionals is because they're a little bit easier to work with because of that molecular memory of the clay. And so as this clay is drying and firing, it is going to once again is going to untwist. Well, since both of the sections here have been thrown in the vertical or upright position, they're going to untwist in the same direction so you're less likely to run into cracking issues.

Compared to flipping them upside down, or one vertical one upside down because they're going to shrink and twist in different direction, so there's some extra protocols to go through with those types of sectionals. But these go together pretty quickly. First we need to trim our cup. I'm focusing on one area at the base of the peace, center it up. Again, that untwisting motion is because of the twisting motion that clay goes through during the throwing process. And that clay remembers that it lines all those platelets up in that circular twisting motion.

And then as they begin to shrink and constrict, they untwist ever so slightly, but it can be enough to cause s cracks, crooked handles, or cracks on seams of sectionals. It's gonna be really important to make sure we work our seams together well. Right now that we secured our cup down from the base of our peace round I know the inside of this vessel is round, that's a nice round bottom on it. I'm just gonna echo that shape. Just about they're pretty good. A little bit with a metal rib.

Continue that nice blue surface we received majority of this When we threw it all right now before I take it off the wheel, I'm actually going to come in here and score this base piece right now. And it can be helpful to have your stem close by I know my stem base is about an inch, so I'm going to shoot for my my score to be about the same as that. Okay, sir cup, rounded at the base, ready to be attached to our stiff. Next we're going to attach the stem back onto the wheel. That a little moisture to it. Unless it's fairly soft already, mine set up pretty well overnight and a little bit of moisture score the top of the stim, roughly about the angle that the bottom of this is I'm taking a slightly inward.

Next, add a little slip to that. Line up our cup, center and on top of our STEM. We are actually looking pretty good. I'm gonna come in from underneath and work our STEM up into our cup. A nice solid connection critical detail separation line. The next section, we're going to look at throwing the stems off of the cut themselves, which opens up a couple of different possibilities.

Depending on the look you're going for, I'm just cleaning this up. I'm going to give my joint there a little time to dry. And then I will flip this upside down and come in and clean up the base of the piece here. There's our basic idea, our simple sectional, very straightforward, but now have a nice chocolate wineglass we'll clean up the bottom and just a little bit. So then we'll come up and we'll clean up this bottom and just a few minutes after our connection here have some time to set up.
