Hello, and welcome to the fifth and final session of finally facing fear. In this session, we're going to be talking about exposing yourself to the fear. So we eliminate fear by exposing ourselves to it in small doses, eventually, it'll become more natural to confront, because we'll have had some circumstances where we spent some time in close proximity to the fear. So we're going to make a plan to help us eliminate this fear or at least maybe not even eliminate it, but just reduce its intensity so that it doesn't feel even capable of blocking us or stopping us from doing the things that we most want to do. So again, in the workbook, there are a few pages that are dedicated to this. The first page is a bit of like an example page to see You're going to work through this.
And then there's space to be able to make your own plan. But first, I'll tell you a little bit about the steps we're going to do. So we'll start by deciding the activities that we will do. So I'm going to go back to the example that I had originally given and the second third session of dropping our lives and moving to Paris for X amount of time to work and live for a while. The fear was the unknown. And it it came out and it looked like different things.
So maybe when we're planning to overcome this fear, things that we might do activities that we might do might be related to exposing ourselves or putting ourselves in contexts where the unknown is very present. So this can be new and unknown social situations with people we No, maybe in a new sports league, or maybe it can be doing a new activity, becoming part of a new project at work, we want to find activities that helps us confront the exact fear that has been blocking us. Then we choose, choose dates for each of the activities that we're going to do will list all the tasks we'll need to do to accomplish each activity. So let's say one of the activities you plan on doing is joining. Every week, you'll join a different group and a different activity to do a new unknown thing. Maybe one of the things you'll need to do is create a meetup account meetup is an online space that allows you to do tons of different social activities.
Maybe you're going to do it through meetup, so you'd have to create an account Find some groups that have activities that interests you. And we're really trying to just look at all the logistics, what you have to do in order to make sure that you can do those activities. And then for every activity that you complete, I want you to take the time to celebrate the completion of that activity. It's so easy. We're so good at beating ourselves up when we do things wrong. And yet very infrequently, do we take the time to celebrate our victories.
But in this situation, I want to make sure that you're stopping and celebrating your victory. Let's say the, if you're flying is what you're looking to overcome. And you've planned that in the next six months, you'll take, you'll do two weekend trips, and it'll be there and back and there'll be flights that you'll need to take for every flight that you're taking. I want you to take the time to celebrate your awesomeness. Celebrate your strength, celebrate your courage. Recognize that courage.
Is being built up as you're doing each one of these activities. So that hopefully by the time you are done completing all these activities, the fear feels like it's much less present amongst your existence and hopefully, I mean, we're not looking for it to necessarily disappear that might be unrealistic. But hopefully we learn how to diminish its power. I hope that this has served you that it has brought you have a few extra tools to carry around in your tool belt. So that fear no longer blocks you from doing the things that you most want to do in life. So good luck and I will see you later.
