Hi there. Welcome back to lecture number two. I am hoping though before we begin this one on attitude and experience of life through attitude and what that really means, I am hoping that you did take the time to do the charts on the personal versus family belief systems he inherited one versus the one that we truly believe, based on those words or any other words that you choose to take a look at or that that you know, are important to you. Because my hope is that it would have answered for you some of the dilemmas that you may have faced, that you do one thing now, despite that, you know, another therefore self sabotage and that's often prevalent so it helps us understand the way we may treat ourselves and the way we may talk to ourselves internally. So let's take a look at attitude and why I suggest that the attitude of gratitude is something we need to seek something we need to live with on a permanent basis and it helps reframe an awful lot of things.
And we'll be talking later on about reframing. But it helps us live in a more peaceful world, both internally and our external experience of the world. So what does it really mean? It means in a sense that we've got a great attitude. Now, if you think what why would that be a determining anything? Well, it determines whether you're in the way or on the way.
And hopefully you want to be on the way rather than in the way in other words, sabotaging or providing boulders and blocks to new and positive experiences. So if we look at what is the opposite of gratitude, it's often victimhood In fact, in it, we're in a state often of denying our own responsibility for our own life. And if you think about what that means, it's our ability to respond to things. We will just also be reflective, maybe because we will often react to things. And react is an automatic, there's a trigger and something happens. And we're just reacting.
Even when we're so called listening to somebody, we're not necessarily hearing what they said, because we've already got our reaction ready to go. So we need to work towards being the causative agent for our own experience. In other words, to get back in the driving seat of the bus, we may never have been there in the first place. But that is the idea behind it. Right? quantum physics is involved, which is the absorption and ability to not only absorb but transfer energy, and to make it positive, hopefully, because that determines the outcome that you will have, of course, and to want other people to really do well in their own lives, but that the better.
We get in terms of controlling around thoughts, our own feelings, our own responses, that determines how we're going to experience life, even though tough things will come at us. At different times. So if we look at absorption and transference remember, I'm talking about quantum physics that's being in that place where you can be spontaneous where you can be in the now I'm going to read something to you as well. Just one other thing I want to read because I think it's important that we understand the nature of something and this being a quote from Albert Schweitzer he said, the greatest discovery of any generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind and sharpen our once said to overcome difficulty is to experience for delight in existence. Now I'm going to show you something that is maybe coincidence, serendipity, Providence, however, it is interesting to put it mildly.
If we take the word attitude, hopefully you can see this and you'll see what I'm showing you here. I've listed the A is the first letter of the alphabet, you see that gives it a one, the T is a 20th letter, UI, the ninth, the you the 21st, D is fourth and either fifth and you add those totals up when you come to 100. So that's an interesting fact. So maybe attitude does make 100% of your experience of anything. I think you will find that in your life, the best attitude you've had, despite what's going on around you, provides you the ability to have positive outcomes. In the end, at least an outcome that is far better than beating yourself up for someone else up literally or figuratively in any which way.
It will help us get to the point where we can help others as well. We may be looking towards filling an existential vacuum. Others may be in that same circumstance. So if we can be in that position to support others, with our positive attitude, as well as excellence In a day, it could be an overwhelming day, but we may not be overwhelmed. And that is the vital thing that we can still think clearly. Now the best experience given the things that can happen to us and around us.
Cicero stated that gratitude is not only the greatest virtues, about the parent of all others, so I asked you to consider that as we'll be moving on, but bring your healthy, positive attitude with you into each of these lectures. Thank you for listening.
