Hello and welcome back guys, today I wish to share with you one of my favorite topics how to avoid student debt. Even if 10% of you guys actually managed to implement the strategies I wish to share with you today, I would consider this whole course a huge success. in countries such as USA, Canada, England, Australia, and many more students at the age of 18 are expected to make a decision to go into debt worth $50,000 on an average, this number is on the low end. I find this extremely ridiculous that people are expected to make such huge life decisions even before they are allowed to touch even a single drop of alcohol. the drinking age in most of these countries is actually about 18. If you are one of those people who are about to make a decision to go in ridiculous amounts of debt just for the purposes of university.
I am here to stop you guys. I am here to actually propose a better solution. countries like Germany, Slovenia, Finland, France. excetera offer degrees that is complete undergraduate and graduate degrees for almost next to no tuition fees. Let's take the example of Germany. The average undergrad degree in Germany last three years.
That is six semesters. The average fee per semester is around 200 euros. Yes, just 200 euros, multiply that by six semester that is 1200 euros for your whole undergrad. Add to that the average living expenses in Germany, which is 800 euros per month, including healthcare and your end fees that comes to around 9600 euros per year. Multiply that by three, it is less than 30,000 euros for your whole undergraduate degree compared to that the average undergraduate degree in USA last for four years, an average of $20,000 per year and this is on the lower side multiplied by 480 thousand dollars per year. Which in today's comes in Yours would be close to 60,000 euros.
Even if you compare it in these aspects, a whole undergraduate degree in Germany costs less than half of what it costs in the United States. And that is excluding the fees for health care. Don't forget that I included the fees for health care in the 800 euros I mentioned in Germany. On top of that, if you are a master students, they offer whole graduate programs completely in English. That's right in English, a graduate program last two years or four semesters. If you do the same calculation we did in our undergrad, it is less than $25,000 or 25,000 euros.
I hope I don't need to go through the calculations once more for the graduate program. I hope you're already packing your bags to come to Europe, but there is more. In Europe you're not charged per course, you're charged a flat semester fee, which is close to 200 euros at the moment and you can take as many courses as you want. They will not charge you extra. What that means is that you have the freedom to learn whatever the heck you want. If you are a PhD or a master's students, there is more to come.
Countries like Germany and Finland or all the countries I mentioned about offer scholarships for Masters and PhD students. Yes, on top of charging notation. Let's take the example of Germany. The ad or dad is one of the institutions which gives scholarships to all kinds of people. Whether you're an international or a German student. I will include the link in the description below and you can go and shortlist a few scholarships you can actually take the scholarship and bursary program is true all over the world.
All countries and all universities pretty much effort some of the other kind of scholarship, but not very many people actually take the effort to apply for this. I suggest you take a look at the bursary and scholarship programs for the universities you are about to choose most of the times they are so specific certain criteria of people that not many people are actually eligible for it and you stand a very good chance of getting some funding. I think I've convinced you guys enough. So with the help of Google, I suggest you go to the worksheet and shortlist three countries in which you would prefer to do your undergrad once you have shortlisted these countries. With the help of Google Translate, you can convert the name of the department you wish to study in the local language. For example, sports sciences in English turns into sport and shaft and in German.
When you use this SEO trick, it widens the scope of your search and gives you more options in which the degree you prefer is available. You can also get an add on from google translate to actually help you translate the nitty gritty details of each and every university you wish to go to. Some universities also have very good English pages after you have shortlisted the countries and the universities which could be possible destinations for you guys. I suggest you visit their website. Once you have visited their website. You can Go to their funding page or fee structure page or whatever it is called in the particular language and find out about the funding options you have available to yourself.
This is the first step of getting a completely free undergrad degree or even a graduate degree if you are a graduate student. I hope this was helpful. And I recommend that you do all the exercises given in the worksheet please don't forget to bookmark all the university pages which you have shortlisted as they will provide a comprehensive list for you to choose in the future. I hope you have finished filling up the worksheets and next time I will guide you through the process of how to successfully apply to one of these universities. See you next time guys.
