This lecture I'm going to talk to you about noise reduction. First of all, you're normally concerned with noise on dialogue tracks or recordings from the real world. And for example, I have here a recording I did on our last lecture. Before I did any noise removal on it, when I re edit my recordings for the spores, I processed that my recordings with Noise Removal after the fact and I use a plugin from isotope called RX noise reduction. And that does a great job. But that's a third party program and I'm here to teach you ways you can do noise reduction all included in the Adobe Suite.

And there are ways to do it in Premiere, good noise reduction, and play with these things. This will come and do it for you But the adaptive part will not be constant. So it'll usually introduce some unwanted effects. So if you're doing noise reduction, I recommend utilizing audition, which is another program in the Adobe Suite. If you're paying for the suite, then you have it, you can install it, which is why I'm teaching it in this course. So let's take a listen to my last recording I did before any noise reduction.

Another tool I would love to share with you guys that I found very useful in doing audio mixes or any type of audio work and premiere is something called the loudness radar. So it's not bad. There's always going to be noise. There's always background noise unless you're in a soundstage, where bands record or a vocal booth but it's important to have a good signal to noise ratio. You might have heard that before and the signal is the stuff you're trying to record, in this case is my voice. And the noise is everything else in the room.

So this is pretty good, you can tell this is pretty loud, and that's relatively soft. For noise reduction to work, you have to have a decent signal. And I do hear. So everything here where I hit record, and then I was getting ready before I started talking, that's all just noise. Some mouse clicks in there is a pretty straightforward way to use this noise as information to eliminate it within here while leaving my voice intact, that you can do an Adobe Audition. So the first step is duplicate the track.

I'm gonna hold Alt and drag down. And the reason I'm doing this is because I'm gonna right click on it, and edit clip in Adobe Audition. And when I do that, it's in create a render of this file, which basically means it actually supports it to a WAV file that's easy for Adobe Audition to process. Now this already is a wave, but it's a good measure because you might be having an mp3 or an M for a, whatever type of file. Adobe has the system set up where when you do this is going to render it out as a wave no matter what, and then import that clip into audition. And now here it is an audition.

And if you want to learn about addition, there are free tutorials from Adobe to help you get started about the workspaces and everything. But I'm here to show you just noise reduction and so we don't even need to worry about all the stuff going on. Let's just focus on our waveform which we're familiar with. Same waveform is here. It's just in a different program. Now you can hit play spacebar, same thing.

The nice thing about Adobe is A lot of the shortcuts are the same. Another tool I would love to share with you guys that I found very useful. So the goal here is to tell audition. What the noise is, we're going to tell it that this is noise. And then we're going to tell it to cancel out this signal, this noise signal throughout the entire piece. And once we've done that, we're going to send it back to premiere.

So this is really good to do when you finish editing a VO TRACK and you're ready to finalize it. This is a good final step. So I'm going to highlight this. Click and drag and right click capture noise print. So we're telling audition that this is our noise print. Okay, so it doesn't do anything yet.

We've just told it Or this information that that is noise. Now hit Command A to select element or control a on Windows go up to effects. Noise reduction. This is what we already did. Now we want to do this, we want to actually apply the process to it and it comes up with a bunch of fancy tools that you can play around with. You can really dial it into what you want.

The default is usually pretty solid, some hit Apply. And look everywhere we had noise or we told it was noise is suddenly gone. And it's taken that and throughout here. It's preserved my voice but eliminated the noise as best it could. So we can listen to it here. Another tool I would love to share with you guys that I found very useful in doing audio mixes or any type of Audio work and premiere is something called the loudness radar.

Pretty good. And it's not always going to be that clean. But you can find a nice balance of depending on your signal to noise ratio, you can find the right balance of how much you can reduce the noise. And it almost always will let you have a better sounding piece of audio. So now that we're happy with this, let's figure out how to send it back to premiere. Hit Save.

And automatically in Premiere, it's saved over that file that duplicate for you. And it doesn't have the noise anymore. You can see visually, there's noise and there's without, it's all lined up. And at this point, you can either mute this or overwrite it whenever you want to do evil
