Hello in this Java programming video, we are going to look at applets. So applet is basically a program made in Java that can be run in your web browser. We're just gonna be running environment cat. And it's all in graphical UI interface. And I will provide a link. So you can check that I have how to, you know, do it in a browser, but this is more just on how to write it specifically, and not embed it into a web page.
So there are throw like a few main things you need to know about an applet. The first thing is you don't actually have a main method that we can get rid of the main method. The next thing is that you need to do a couple of imports, import java dot asterisk. Then when you do an import, Java AWT dot after it looks like it's pretty Now we need to do extend, extend the applet class. Okay, so now they're lacking domain in an applet. So there's the life cycle is the, you know, assuming methods, there is the init method, which basically initializes your program, or your applet, and anything that you need to put there to do, you know, to basically initialize it you put in there, so we'll just do public public in it.
Like so. Not gonna put anything in there for now that the number one could be in it just in a way you still everything up. The next method is start and this is basically called after the browser call the init method. So this is where your stuff gets going. starts the application logic almost, then we now have a public topic. This is automatically called when you stop the applet.
So if you want to do something, maybe, and next one is public void, destroy. So this is just winning your brand that gets shut down normally. Again, under something, there may be some cleanup, or tracking some statistics, that sort of stuff. Finally, public void. And this is called app install method. This is where you would draw content to the screen itself.
We run this see what we get. We get this applet started. And let's actually draw some into the screen. So we can draw, we can draw. So we need to do graphics GLP The law behind and this is what we're going to draw to and then do GRP page that there's a bunch of stuff you can go and keep it simple. In this video I'm gonna draw a strength of text.
And the first parameter is the string and rules on say, on for home. I'd love to just insert your name and then the x&y coordinates. So if I do 107, some random coordinates around that, what we get there, Once it loads, it says, Hi, so it's position 100 pixel across Africa with one pixel down so it's been a mind 00 is top left, that positive x coordinate will move it to the right, negative will move to the left, positive one will be down and negative y coordinate will move it up.
