Hello and welcome back in this video I'd like to talk about WordPress visibility settings. Now many new bloggers get confused between a search engine visibility settings in the visibility settings found in the WordPress editor. WordPress allows you to decide if you'd like your website to be searchable from search engines, or have your site not crawlable. The benefits of this feature is to allow you to work on your site and not have it scannable prior to its completion. Now you can also use this feature if you're planning on making some large changes in your site. If you use this feature, make sure that you uncheck the box when you want your site to go live and be searchable for the search engines.
Also, if you're finding that your site is not being ranked for some reason, check to see if this feature was accidentally turned on. You can see if your site is being ranked by Google with Google Search Council, previously known as Webmaster Tools to find if your WordPress visibility settings are on off, you go to the settings on the left hand side, and then you're going to click on reading. You're going to scroll down to where it says search engine visibility. Now this box right here, if you click that, that's going to make your site on searchable. So if that's clicked, and you want your sites searchable, make sure that you click that off. If you want to have your site not searchable while you're making some changes, you can click that on but make sure when you're all done with the changes to unclick that scroll down to the bottom of the page and save changes.
