Hello, and welcome to this topic about mental effects of nicotine withdrawal. I trust you're still in a little bit of shock from the revelation in the previous video that the physical effects of nicotine withdrawal are so small, that it's highly unlikely you will ever feel them. Now I have to admit, I was quite surprised when I first found this out. But the further I went along in my journey and looked at each situation of craving or withdrawal I was going through, it made me realize that all of this centered around my mentality and my attitude towards smoking. So let's start by looking at how your mind is working when it's in withdrawal or having a craving for a cigarette. So first of all, a thought pops into your head and it says, have a cigarette, or it's time for a cigarette.

You could have a cigarette now you could fit one m then you answer the thought with immediate submission. Yes, I will. Want a cigarette, I need to have one now. Then in that moment, you smoke a cigarette, and go on with your day, until the next time when your thoughts tell you that you need another one, or it's time for another one. And that's how you go through your day. They don't pop into your head while you're asleep, forcing you to wake up and have a cigarette in the middle of the night.

But they are very active during your waking hours out sorry, they're all very active during your waking hours. So why is this? because your mind is telling you that you're having a craving. What about when you can't have one? At that moment, when the thought of having one enters your mind? you instantly start feeling frustrated, and quite possibly begin to panic.

You're thinking I need one now, but I can't have one. Oh my god, how long is it until like Have the next one. Regardless of the circumstance, you may have just finished a meal. Or you're new thinking, why can't I just go and have one? Why am I being prevented from my precious smoke filled pleasure, my joy, my addiction, I need to feed it now. I would like you to know that none of this is a physical reaction.

This is all coming from your mind, the same place that the thought to have won in the first place originated. So why are we in such a panic when we can't smoke, then we're not getting quite angry about it. Now a good example of this frenzy or panic you will put yourself in is when you're traveling on an aeroplane. Now, the whole process of going through the airport and taking the taking a flight fills smokers with absolute dread. I know it used to fill me with horror. And I bet even me just mentioned in it makes you think Yep.

I hate not being able to Smoke at the airport. I'm not saying that air travel is wonderfully pleasant for everyone in general anyway, but by adding in the terror that engulfs a smoker when they have to navigate the airport and flight, and the destination, along with passport control and customs until they can't smoke again, the other side just fills you with horror and panic. So why would we put ourselves through this? Is it your addiction to nicotine contained within the cigarette? Well, we already know that it isn't because you have any physical symptoms. So where does it come from?

You've set this in motion yourself when you first taught yourself to smoke because you taught your mind to smoke. It's all the mental triggers and thoughts you put in place slowly, gradually over time in your mind, way back when you first started to smoke before you sell all these mental triggers and conditioned yourself to desire to smoke You have no issue ever having to think about smoking at all. As a nonsmoker, you just navigate the same as anyone else would, and get on with your life completely free of panic or terror and thoughts of how long it would be until you smoke again. So what can you do to overcome these effects? Well, you've already started this process you've chosen to, and made the decision that you want to quit. You now ask yourself the questions as you smoke each and every cigarette that you have.

You take two minutes before you're smoking each cigarette. So we understand the reason behind why you want that. On top of that, you now know the biggest secret and understand that the physical effects of nicotine withdrawal are barely noticeable, if even at all, and that the majority of being a smoker is all in your mind. And now you know this, you can start to see the simple truth that it's going to be quite simple for you to stop. And on that note, Congratulations, you've completed this module and I will see you in the next one. Bye for now.
