ScreenFlow is a software program that allows you to record the screen of your computer and edit video, you can purchase the program to App Store or to the website. If you purchase from the website you'll get the updates faster because they don't have an approval process. let's configure it, go to ScreenFlow preferences. First, add your license in licenses. Okay, now in advanced we have a few options, video magnification configures the way ScreenFlow handles to mean and zoom out in editing mode. Activating adaptive in screen recording compression compresses the video while it is recording to take up less disk space.

I'd suggest you install the audio driver so you can record the computer audio while you are recording the screen. The capture scratch disk allows you to record where the temporary five seats while the program records the screen. In the General tab, I'd recommend enabling the ScreenFlow options in the menu bar, so you can pause and continue editing directly from the menu icon. Also, you can set up a countdown before the screen starts recording. Don't forget to set the recording hotkey and the pause hotkey, so you can easily start stop and also pause recording. To get to the Configure window, you can just open the program.

If you have the program open, you can go to file new recording. And also another way to do it is to use the menu bar icon, click on it and choose configure recording. From there you can also hide your desktop icons so your screen looks clean. to unhide them. Just click the Show desktop icons option in the menu bar icon that appears after you hide them or just quit ScreenFlow you can start recording directly using your previous recording settings. All right in configure recording, you can see three options, recorded video and using the camera from a ritual record, record audio from a built in or an external microphone and record computer audio so you can record the sound directly.

If you click on the next button here, you can also set a timer to record for a set amount of time. Great. Now hit the record button and the countdown certain preferences start. When ScreenFlow is recording the menu bar icon has a black.on it from the menu bar icon you can pause the recording or stop it. Once you stop it, it will open the editing window. Notice that I'm using QuickTime for this particular video so that I can record the Configure recording process editing window layout.

We have three parts in the window layout, the canvas, the properties and the timeline. The canvas displays the visual elements of your project. The preview shows how your final video will look like. And the gray area contains of screen elements. The properties contains controls for altering the video, the audio, some other effects text, and it also contains the media library where you can import other media in your project. The timeline is a visual representation of your video to through time.

It includes all elements, all the elements of the project, every recording, you've used all images, audio clips, and everything else you've added, and all the modifications to these recordings like video effects. The scrubber is the red line in the timeline and it shows at which point in time your video is at. In the top you can click on the project's name to rename it or lock it. In the top right you have the full screen option. And down here you have the audio represent Have your audio. Here you have the playback controls, play and pause, skip to the end and to the beginning and the time of the presentation of the scrubber location.

One less thing. On the left, you have the canvas controls. We'll go through all of these in the next videos. The canvas, you can start by resizing the canvas. When you see this symbol on the right or bottom part of the canvas you can drag to zoom in or out. Next, you can resize the preview window.

You can do this in the View menu, so means zoom out, or using the keyboard shortcut command equal or Command minus. You can also click on View zoom to fit or zoom to 100% to get to the preview at the windows resolution, you should also adjust the size of the canvas. If you have a snap to front window selected, it will snap to the window in the video. You can also change the background color like this and reset everything to normal. You can see in the Properties tab that the preview window moves. resizing is done by clicking on the little circles in the corners of the preview window.

Using shift will hold the aspect ratio while you're dragging. You can also rotate the item in the canvas by moving this circle. The timeline is split in several parts. At the bottom you have the total duration of the project. And on the top of the timeline, you have the timescale. On the timescale, you have markers, which I'll talk about in another video and the scrubber.

The position of the scrubber dictates what is shown in the preview. You can move the scrubber around by dragging it or clicking on another point in time scale. If you click on a beginning, or an ending of a clip, it snaps to that part. To turn off snapping Go to View and uncheck snapping. Below the timescale you have the tracks, each track has one or more clips. On the left side of the track, you have the track controllers, you can increase or decrease the size of the track by clicking on the arrows or by right clicking and choosing expand or shrink.

You can also delete the track or move the track anywhere on the timeline. By having one track above the other will display the tracks preview in front of the other tracks preview. If you drag your cursor on a clip, a gear icon appears. Clicking on it will give you some additional options. On the bottom left you have the timeline magnification slider clicking on it zooms in or out of the timeline. pressing Control D is on the timeline to fit the time scale.

Clicking on view shows that bar will display nested clips. A nested clip is when you take multiple clips and merge them into one. If you double click on a nested clip, the tab bar shows up and goes into the nested clip, where you can edit the individual tracks. nested clips help declutter the timeline. The timeline can also be customized in the preferences timeline tab. The first item there changes the timescale view from second to times codes.

You can also hide the Action menu, overlay the gear button and show stereo audio waveform and even change the default durations of clips added to the timelines. One of the most used features of ScreenFlow is splitting clips. This allows you to turn one clip into multiple clips so you can remove unwanted video rearrange it or insert media in between. You can do this by positioning the scrubber on the section you want to split and clicking it slower tab. This will split all clips on the timeline except the ones that are locked. You can also drag the red tab when splitting and it will create a gap by two Dragging to the right or a transition by dragging to the left.

There are other ways to split clips by clicking the letter T or choosing split from the Edit menu. If you want to split an individual clip, don't use the scrubber. Click on the clip, right click on it and use Split Clip. You can also split multiple clips this way by selecting multiple clips. You can trim the beginning or the end of the clip by selecting the clips and clicking trim from scrubber or and to scrubber. Then you can drag the clips using the scrubber to the start of the timeline or select the empty spaces by holding Shift and hitting the delete button.

Use Ripple Delete to remove a section of the video and close the gap all at once. Without Ripple Delete, you would have to split a clip at the beginning split it at the end. Highlight the empty spaces and delete them to close the gap. With Ripple Delete, you go to the beginning and use Mark Mark Point to mark the beginning of the Delete process, then mark out points to mark the end. To get rid of it, just use edit to Ripple Delete, it deletes the section and closes the gap all at once. can also delete the end of the video by marking the end point of the Delete process and no end point.

Or do the same for the beginning of the video with them with marking the outpoint export and publish, just go to File Export. Here are all the options for exporting your video. Set the name for it a location to save it. You can use a preset for exporting the video and even create your own preset. After you select a preset you can customize it and change any of the video and audio settings. You can also manage the presets and select which one you prefer to appear in the default presets box.

Next is the scale bar. Make sure you have it at 100% so you can explore it at the full size of The video using motion blur gives a smooth look to the motion in your videos. Next, hit export. If you and if you have notifications set in your Mac you will receive and deification was the export finishes. You can also publish to YouTube Vimeo or other providers
