All right, welcome back. At this point we have our general figures laid out and we're going to start painting them in. So bring out your watercolors. Make sure you have erased any little lines on the interior of your drawing that you don't want to show lines that might be behind a floaty or a beach ball. And then pre wet all of your paints just by putting a few drops of water on them. And I've already done that here.

And then when you're all set up, begin to mix a color that is kind of a light brown like this. It should have a little bit of orange in it. A little bit of yellow, but it's really more tan than peach. We want to avoid a pink looking skin tone so it mixed up a decent amount so that we can make it through the whole skin space. And then I'm just going to lay down this Color painting around areas that we want to have the light source hit. So I'm imagining the light is shining from this direction and maybe this highest point is not completely covered.

Same with her shoulder here. So typically I would paint around this bra strap. I'm going to make this black on the end. So if you're doing the same paint right over it, no problem. If you feel like you've added too much pigment, you can come in with a relatively dry brush, pixel And, and keep thinking elsewhere. Keep in mind these areas where your shapes hit.

If it's the same color, you can go right into it paint over the edge, that's fine. If you're painting with a different color, these colors will run. So make sure you leave a little bit of space. We'll practice that later on. In this lesson, the face lighter is better, we can always add more. I am just going to paint where there would be shadows like around the edge underneath her sunglasses, maybe on the bottom lip, and I've left a little bit of whitespace you don't need to paint everything in completely you want to leave little areas where there can be visual interest.

So here I've left a highlight on her calf but on the other side this leg is kind of falling behind. I'm going to paint that all in. Just kind of quickly lay down some color. This doesn't have to be perfect. We have multiple layers to apply. So leaving a little area on our shoulder where the light would hit.

Again painting across the bra straps because I will make them black. If you're planning to make them light, you would paint around them like this right up to the edge of your brush. Leave a little white area, even if they're going to be blue or some other color. You want to leave the white of the page because painting over a peach color will muddy your new color. So wherever possible use the white at the page. As your wife, we don't have any white and watercolor, everything's opaque.

This creates some challenges but it can also be really fun. You're again, kind of painting half of her face and a little shadow underneath her sunglasses. And that's all paint her whole torso. And I'll leave a little highlight on our side here. Keep those shapes rounded, the skin is kind of round and soft. And don't worry if you have a little area like here I've overlapped a bit, that's fine.

We're going to go back and shade so you don't have to worry too much. Without being pinpoint accurate here, you will all work out in the end. Okay, good. I will also lay the base color of her hair, I'm just going to make her kind of a sandy blonde. So again, that's really not a yellow. It's going to be more of a brown.

So mixed a brownish reddish color like so. And we'll just use it lightly and the weight of the page will show through just the indication of some hair. Keep in mind it will be dark Ghosts around her face and anywhere that could cast a shadow. Same thing here don't paint all of it. Just sunlight indications of color. Good.

At this point, remembering the paint from left to right, I'm going to lay some color into the beach floaty. So this will be very pink. Go ahead and give this some time to dry. If yours is not dry completely, you want to wait. Otherwise you will track your hand through it which is not a good idea. I'm just going to mix up a bright pink color for this floaty.

Keep in mind, this is your own If you want it to be blue if you want it to be yellow, that's all fine. We're going to start here I'm going to paint around the eye shape we drew, and also around anywhere we want to leave a highlight. Sometimes I paint around the highlights first, and then I go back and connect my shapes. watercolor dries fairly quickly so you have to move strategically. Another trick is making sure you have plenty of water on your brush. As long as you're painting with a wet brush, things shouldn't dry too quickly for you.

Got a little too close. Just taking a little way with my finger. Don't worry about these little mistakes. This is just the first layer. We're going to go back over a few times. Right here to Let's leave a little highlight here following the curve or the shape and maybe one here.

Keep plenty of water on your brush for these big areas. Another highlight I've painted around there Good, so that's the first layer. This will be black, that will be white. This will be peach but I'm going to let this area dry first so the colors don't bleed. Let's move on and maybe paint our sunglasses. And I'm going to make mine bright blue.

I'm going to paint around those little lines I left for myself because that'll be the glare where these detail pieces Feel free to change to a smaller brush. To get a little more accuracy, that's probably a good idea. I'm gonna pick up some of this color because it got a little darker than I would have liked. And I'll use it over here. While I have blue on my brush, I'm also going to paint her glass blue. She will have a blue drink I've done is gone really dark on that left side and then I'm leaving a little bit of whitespace just for visual interest here.

She should have some highs and lows of color. And then I'm just kind of dabbing on the top Maybe this is a frosty frozen drink. And that's good. Want to grab my big brush again and it kind of a cobalt blue. I'm going to make this a blue beach ball. So hear paint around to leave some highlights, two or three is fine.

Maybe that was too much covered up. At the end we'll also go back and shade this so just get the shape on. And then one of these pieces of the beach ball would be blue. Great. I'll leave that center area white. And then this is kind of a waiting game that needs to dry before we paint the sides but I can paint this one and let's make her red.

Make sure you paint around your foot. Hear again if you prefer to use your smaller brush, please do make this little beach ball yellow painting around the glare Alright, and now this is pretty much dry, we can go back and put on some peach. So I'm just going to mix up a bright orange GPH here. You don't need that much. If you've started a glare here as I did, make sure you keep the edges consistent. So even though I've switched color, I kept that line going.

Let's also put some orange on her swimsuit here just around the tops. In the end, I'll go back and make these little divider lines between the color black pieces of the swimsuit black. So I encourage you to do the same that will really make it Chris going to grab some yellow and that will be this bottom area here. Switching to my smaller brush which is a little more manageable for these tight spaces. Also, if you're having a problem keeping the colors really where you want them to go, use less water in your brush. That will help a lot.

Okay, good. And let's reach in here with some pink this area's paying And this area's pink. While we're waiting for some of these places to dry, let's go back and paint her straw. Maybe it's a purple straw. Why not? So I'm using barely any paint on this brush, because I want it to be very, very fine.

And I've painted kind of a left and right side so there's a glare right on the center of the straw. I'm gonna make the cherry red. I've left a little dot again for the glare. And I'll do a base layer of orange for the orange. also going to come back in with blue and just highlight the top rim of this glass. So you can really tell where it starts and ends maybe also the left side.

Like so. Anyway, there might be a shadow. Good. All right, take a break, let everything dry. I'll be right back.
