In this lesson, we're going to talk about keywords. And it's really important to understand what keywords are driving traffic to your product or service. And the reason is because if a place like Google, where it's the largest search engine, and people are actually, well, I should say it's giving us the words that people are using to actually get to our type of product, then of course, we're going to want to know what those trending keywords are. And we're going to want to use them in our copy. And then we're going to also use Facebook to see what Facebook is suggesting as words that people are using to get to our product because it's another really good way to find out what's driving people to our type of product or service. Okay, so let's get started with Google first.
Let me go How to use something called Keyword Planner. So we're going to go over to a search bar. And we're just going to type in. Let me see Google Keyword Planner. Okay, and it is this it's this one right here, AdWords stock google.com forward slash Keyword Planner. Now if you haven't used Google AdWords before, it's going to prompt you to create an AdWords account and put in a credit card.
I believe it's been quite a few years since I've created my account. But if it does, it's not charge you unless you actually create an ad. So this is this is basically a tool that is created to help you create a better ad. And so again, if you haven't done this before, you will go to a different screen then you'll see me go to and it'll prompt you to create an account and it's completely safe and okay to do so. And and hopefully everyone's also got a Google account. So when you Before you click on this, you want to make sure that you are already logged into your Google account.
So as you can see here on the far, right, there's my little Google picture. And that's, that just shows me that I have Google open on my computer. Alright, so be signed into Google and then click on this. It's gonna be a little bit slow today. Okay, there we go. Um, I can show you exactly where to go what to do.
So just ignore everything else for now. So we're going to go into this thing here, search for new keywords. Okay, and this is where you get to put in the type of keywords you're looking for. So I am looking for a dinner, some cookbook, in general, because I wanted to help people find them some cookbooks and what kind of phrases they're using and my targeting is I'm going after the United States. I'm going after English speaking population for now, and I'm using Google Yes, and I negative keywords are just keywords you want it to exclude. That's just by default, I always put the words jobs in, in this case, it doesn't really matter.
It's just because if you're offering a service and you, Google will pull up, you know, some hustle, just pull up things like jobs, which if you're not offering a job, then you don't want that app. So you can, it doesn't matter, you could just get rid of that. I am going to just make sure it's after the US, which is the market I'm after, if you know more specifically, what target you're going after, you can enter your location right in here under targeting. Okay, so again, under targeting, just click here and enter your location to target. Okay, so United States going after English, and I'm just gonna click on get ideas. Again, I do this very fast and just very in general terms, because I don't need it to be an exact science.
So let's see here. Just want to get general idea. So basically, what you want to do is, first of all, if you look over here, you'll see it says ad group ideas, that's for the group terms. And keyword ideas are for the individual words under the group. So we're just going to stay on keyword ideas. And what I typed in was here done some cookbook.
So this is the average monthly searches. So there's 10 to 100 across us average monthly searches, which, if you think about it across the US, it's not very high. There's not a lot amount of people looking for dem some cookbook, but let me see what people are looking for. Okay, Dim Sum in general, and that's a huge amount of people looking for just Dim Sum in general. Okay, Dim Sum recipes. Okay, so again, my Dim Sum cookbook, only 10 200 people are looking at a whole bunch of people a whole bunch more people are looking for tips and recipes.
So I definitely want that word Diem, dump some recipe in My descriptions Okay, so I'm going to open up that page that has a rough notes and under words, okay, I'm going to type in Dim Sum recipe, because it has to be it has to be in there, because that's what people are looking for. So what else are people looking for? Let's see. So we're back here we're scrolling, scrolling scrolling. Here is another Chinese dim sum. Okay, so some people know dim sum, of course I have it, I'm gonna have it all through my copy.
So I'm not gonna worry about writing that down as a key word. But Chinese dim sum, I don't have the word Chinese in my copy. So I'm going to write that down Chinese dim sum. Makes it a bit more descriptive. Okay, so let's go back here and just keep scrolling. So again, 100 1000 is very low for crossing us if you're in a bit more targeted area and might be okay.
As a search. But stick to something bigger like into the thousands. crock pot cookbook. Well, my cookbooks not a big crock pot. So we're not going to do that. Let's see.
None of these are really relevant even though they have good searches. So I'm just gonna keep scrolling paleo cookbook pressure cooker. No. There's one called a clean eating. It doesn't it's not really related. Gordon Ramsay cookbook of Chris.
So, yeah, so that's his. That is all that it's going to give me now again, mine is a very specific niche, you are going to have very, very different results. So again, all you're doing is you're scrolling and you're looking for the numbers and you want anything above 1000. And again, it very much depends on your geographic area and your industry. But the more the better. And here under competition, you can get a sense How many competitors in Google are competing for that keyword?
Now the good thing about Google listing these competition sports and scoring them from low to high, is we can assume probably safely, that if like here, for example, if something's got high competition, we can assume the reason it's high competition is because advertisers are having success using that key word. And the reason I'm assuming that is, Why else would a whole bunch of advertisers be putting their money into something unless it's converting? Okay? So, here, for example, even though it's low search terms, there's lots of competition under Dim Sum recipe book. So I'm going to put that on my list of keywords. And again, this is just when I'm writing my copy.
These are just some of the words I'm going to use it when I'm describing it anywhere. The or I mean, you can even use For the copywriting on your landing page, it's okay to help you. Okay, so some recipe book. And there we go. Okay. So let's see what else has got high competition dims some rappers.
It's very specific, you know, easy dim some recipes. Remember, we were talking about possibly going after the market who are novices at doing this. So if I did that, I would want to use that exact term did easy demonstration recipes. There, see what else is high competition. Nothing else is that relevant. And again, it's a very specific niche.
But this has helped me out this has given me some keyword phrase ideas. So I'm happy with that. So that's good. So that's how you would use it. And then you can, of course, you know, play around with it and put some other combinations of words in there and CB come up with different results. So again, what you're looking at is your average monthly searches and to make it easier for stuff, you want to start these, you could just click on it and it'll.
There we go. And I'll sort them for you from top to least searched. So that might make it a little bit easier. So I just I just usually scroll down here there's not that many, right. But you might want to sort it right from the start. So you're only looking at the top results.
Chinese food recipes. Did I have that one? I think I documented that one. Let's see Chinese didn't know. That is a huge one like that. See, I almost missed that.
So Chinese food recipes, so it's picked up. Let me spell that properly. And let me just highlight that one. Because that one if it's got 10,000 200,000 searches per month you know, I know a lot of people are searching For us, this can really help me out. But again, low competition, so people who are using it might not have that great results on it. Um, but it also means in theory, if I wanted at a later date to do a Google ad on this too, I would be paying a lower rate for something that has a high number of searches.
So that is also golden. And that means that I would also use that word definitely on my landing page and on my home page on my website, as well. Um, okay, so that's, yeah, that's all I'm going to use for that. Okay, so I hope that was helpful. Let's go into Facebook ads and we'll type in Dim Sum cookbook, and we're going to keep it under top and natural. As you can see, it's public post.
So if you pick up the top top public posts posted by and I chose anyone, or you could choose your friends or whatever, but choose anyone because you want the top public posts posted by Anyone on Facebook that Facebook thinks, or that Facebook's algorithms have picked as the top one has to do a dim sum cookbook. And then I'm going to look to see how they're marketing it. And I'm going to look at some of their words. So let's do that. So here so this person here are book Hong Kong food and culture from dim sum to dry is the National winner in the best. That's very, very nice.
And look at that she's got 210 reactions, people really like this. Um, so let's see if there's any words from there any ideas we can take from there? Probably not. I could probably go into the ad to get some more information, but let's just leave them and let's look at that. That visual is so beautiful. And this one's asking for what's your favorite and some menu.
So I like that we're done some menu. And the idea that people create their own dip sub menu. So I'm gonna go back to my words and I'm going to type in dim Oh my God. So let's try that again down the some menu. I like that. Okay, let's see.
Let's see what else Facebook has pulled out for us. So Dim Sum book. I'm just looking to see if these are being top rated. It means that they probably have the most interaction so shares but as you look like this one here has 517 reactions, but it's got 40 comments and 15 shares, Okay, this one here is not doing quite as well, so it doesn't kind of lose popularity based on that. But I'm really curious, like if this one's got 40 comments and 15 shows like people love this. So I'm gonna guess it's because of all the beautiful pictures online.
So I've got a lot of pictures off this recipe book. And I like this idea of a collage of pictures. So that's giving me nice This is something I could try to create in my Facebook ad. And I like how it's asking people, what's your favorite dumb sub menu? Hmm, that's really, really cool that this person, I'm just going to click on that page, see if I can get some more ideas. So this, this is all about Easy Japanese recipes.
And, yeah, so that's kind of neat just to get ideas of the same sort of thing, just teaching people how to make different recipes. So I'm going to go in here just kind of get some ideas, because that again, is one of the top ones for some cookbook that Facebook had pulled up for us. And everything else has got like low shares. Let's see it down a bit more. Oh, this one look at that. 871 reactions.
That's the same person she's so this person obviously really knows how to work Facebook, and people are really super interacting with her ads. It's great. So I'm in spend a little bit more time on that just to get ideas of how she does it and why is it popular and how she getting people to be interested in cooking? Those types of recipes. And that's how I would use that. Oh, that looks delicious.
And this one has no shortage of stuff. So I'm just going to ignore it. So I just want to go after the ones that have a lot. There she is, again, look at that. Another post 575 comment or sorry, 51 comments, 575 reactions into Facebook. reactions are good, but they don't count it nearly as highly as they would with shares and comments, because that means that people are really, really invested in and I'm really interested in it.
Okay, so I'll just go down a few more to see if there's anything else that's really trending. Um, and there's not that many. But if again, if something's really trending, there's a reason it's trending. So is it the picture is it the words is it, the person who's doing it and then just maybe every single post this person ever does gets a ton of shares and likes and whatever right so I'll go check out her page and see what's going on. But this is all going to give me more ideas of what to do in my post. So basically again, in summary, we have use Google Keyword Planner, and we have used Facebook search.
And between both of them, we now have an idea right here under words, we added some more words of some of the wording that we should be using when we create the copy for our ad. Okay, so I hope that was helpful and I will see you in the next lesson.
