What I said before the gradient lesson, there is three ways to create shapes in Inkscape. First one is the basic level is creating simple shapes. And like I'm doing this three and using the squares and the circles and the stars create our objects. That's okay I think a basic level but for more complex result, we should use the path operations. So the union the difference intersection, and then we can create more complex shapes than just the basic one. And then there is the third one.
The third way to modify the path and that is the more complex one, the heaviest one from all three. But that gets To the best results. So firstly, we can do the two ways to create a path, we can use the Bezier tool, which I'll just gonna refer to as the pen tool because it looks like a pen. So I select the pen. No tell the course is changing. And I can draw an object.
So one more, more. I just click, click. I do straight lines and defy over the white dot. It's closing the object. What I can do with like, click, hold, then I make a curve. Hold and click again.
Then I make a good So I already selected this tool, it's the Edit path by nose is the node tool with the nodes, I can modify the basic shape I just created. So let's give it no better color than it is now. Orange is fine. So with the nodes, I mean this little gray squares, I can move around. So I go you see this, it looks like a needle is a black needle, the other cars have changed it, change this shape now. I'm in this needle, I can select and modify the nodes of a path.
If the hand is appearing, I can modify this part of the path between the two nodes here or I can ask you With the selection tool the same way I can select multiple paths and I can even resize them or turn them around. Note if this one, you see this little icon here with the four arrows, if that one is turned on, I can modify and turn around the path like I do with the selection tool, if they are not turned on and arrows are not visible, so I just turned that on. I think it's not turned on on default. And then I can modify Okay, Tony Shea pylon. So the one way to do it is to use this tool. I will give it now.
No field button, a stroke. And so the Bezier tool, the pen tool is good to create the basic shape, and then modify and refine the path with the path editor tool. note one thing that these nodes can have different shape, and that has obviously different function. So, if I click by control, you see it's changing the curve. By control, I can switch between the type of nodes and when it's a square or a circle, it means that the path on the two sides are reacting the same way. And if I click on a node, it has this node handles.
I can also modify the path with the handles. So I grabbed this little circles and I can refine my path here. But if I could On Ctrl, click on it again. You see it's turning into diamond, then the two, then it's turning a corner an edge, not not an arch. So I can modify the two node handles differently. And I can use this as an edge.
See, if I want to continue my drawing, I just continue it. So one way is to use the Bezier tool. The other one is using the the other one is using the path operations. Yeah, that's why it's the name because it's creating it from an object. It's creating. path.
So, now you see the white handles of defaulting scape object, if I go path object to path then they disappeared and with the node selection tool I can see that they are here the nodes are appearing. So, we turn the simple object into a path, the other way it can be done. If I for example, now I do an intersection or any path operation exclusion difference union any then it turns into a path because it's a this path operations are creating more complex shapes from the object we are using. And here I have already the four different handles on the object. I can select these two wooden down a bit. And here I already have a leaf a leaf So it's very easy to modify the path.
I just select a node. So and I flip it around. If I want a different type of leap belief, I just duplicate it, select this. If I want an even more different one and I want to add an extra bomb or something into it, then I can select this side of the leaf this type this section of the path, double click when the hand appears, and that adds on a new node. I can do the same and I can move the node and do whatever I want with it. I can do the same by select the two nodes creating this section of the above and push insert.
If I push insert on my keyboard, it's Think? No. So you see, it's very easy to create modifications from the same simple path and create our own and in unique shapes. In the next one, we will go a bit, a few steps into creating a more complex object. And we will use all the tools we learned so far. So we will create a complex object and use the colors the gradients, this path operations and the path modification we just learned now and after that, we will go into the graphical user interface for a bit to learn the text tool.
And then we will see a lot more coming
