So we know now how to create simple objects and how to play around with them. But what we didn't talk about yet is colors in that. And I want to tell as much as I can in this lesson about it. So in Inkscape, as you might, as you already know, there are objects and we just click on a color on the palette down here and we assign a color to that object. And as you see in this object I just drew every object in Inkscape has two or two colors assigned. It's in the bottom left corner, you can see them fill and stroke.
Fill is obviously what is inside the object. So it's a big flat color. And the stroke is an outline of an object. And as you see the stroke is also colorable. So it, it can be much more than just being a thin, black hairline. It can do so much more and Thick colored line can help actually your game character to be separated from the background.
Anyways, how does how to edit the Fill and Stroke colors, you can double click down here. And here the Fill and Stroke window opens. Usually I've just using Shift Ctrl F because it's so convenient. And then I have this window here. As you see it has three different tabs. I will go over them shortly.
And when you open it first, it's adjustable. And when you open it first you see something like this, RGB a and that's red, green, blue, you know coloring as we usually have. And a is for all four and it's transparent. So I'm now editing the fill color. And I'm pulling the alpha up and down. And this makes only the fear color transfer If I go to the stroke paint, that's the stroke color.
Alpha is only working here for the stroke color. I'm showing you this because now we jump on the bottom and here is opacity. And I want you to know what's the difference between alpha and opacity. You see alpha is the alpha versity of that color field or stroke, as you see from full color to zero, as Opacity is percentage for the whole object. So if I play around with the opacity, I modified the transparency of the whole object so stroke and feel alike. When I opened my fill and stroke window, you saw that it was different than this, because it has different color mode, it has RGB to CMYK like other stuff, and What I use what I like to use for my drawing is the wheel.
I like it, it's so simple it just says wheel. It's basically a color wheel. It's working with you and saturation. So how it goes is the hue color is around. So if I click on the circle and move around, I can pick up any type of color I like. And then inside is the full color black and white and everything in between.
So different situations to make the color brighter or darker. So I can pick my color on the side and then I can modify it with the triangle inside. I think it's a good way for us to draw because it makes you creative because you can not just playing with sliders, but you see all the colors or almost all the colors at once. So you can play around and find what you need the Other thing is that it's adjustable as you saw, so if you need more precision, just make this window bigger even you can detach and make it very, very big. Usually I just use this convenience I sighs one more thing about the fuel stroke window, you see this line of icons, I will not explain everything now because we need some stuff for later but the first one and the third and the second one as the tools tooltip says it's no pain.
So if I close this out, there is no fear color. And also here it says not. And if I click on flat color, it will be flat colored. Again, it's this simple. One more thing is the stroke style. And what we will only work now with is the width of the stroke.
So now it says two six, usually default it's one. So let's do some crazy stuff. 23 pixel with the zoom in. It's very, very big. stroke, you can play with dashes. So how the stroke changes.
It's so big that it's not visible. You see stuff like this and beings and how the corners are reacting. I leave this up to you so you can play with it and see that these things exist. So this is the basic stuff about colors. We will do also other things later with them there is still a bit more, but feel free to play around with the wheel and just what I always say to my students, this palette is very nice. It's 256 colors, but this wheel has 70 million.
So be creative and be adventurous, try new colors every time
