Loves history. Love has and is always evolving. It didn't start out the way it is today though. love relationships and sex didn't have very much to do with each other at first. When we feel in love, we get a rush of endorphins. This was passed down to us from our prehistoric ancestors.
Think about the lives they lived constantly on the move and constantly fighting for survival. They didn't have the time or the mental or emotional ability to worry about romance. male female relationships were ultimately for procreation and to keep the species alive. So if love wasn't a goal for our ancestors, how did love start back then? When you fall in love with someone it creates a very strong feeling of attachment and need to be around each other. cavemen only had sexual encounters with females to make babies and protect those babies to ensure the survival of their group.
Back then. monogamy wasn't really an option. There just wasn't as many humans as there are today. And it was only about survival to keep the male around to protect the baby biology gave them both a big dose of chemicals such as dopamine. And that is where the in love feeling actually comes from. The release of these hormones last from six months to three years, this was enough time to ensure the baby lived long enough to survive, then the brain chemicals begin to fade and as they did for our prehistoric men, they would move on to impregnate another female so you know survival of the species.
The roles of relationships have evolved over a very long period, depending on the region of earth and the cultural or religious beliefs of the community, relationships and sexuality can be extremely different. Most beliefs and practices surrounding relationships in history around the world had absolutely nothing to do with love or romance. It was about survival or social Status a turning point in history for romance was during the Renaissance period. This is where most of the notions of love and romance started. You know, Romeo and Juliet knights and shining armor, that type of thing. The Renaissance was between the 14th and 17th century.
That means the idea of romance has lasted over 500 years. It's a long time, but when you realize that humans have been on earth 200,000 or more years, love is still pretty new.
