So once you're in Google Sites, first thing you want to do is name it. When you're editing a site, that site is saved in your Google Drive. So that's where you go back to actually find the site. Think of this as a document right now. So it's a document that you're adding to and creating until you publish it. It won't be a website, that's live until you publish it.

So right now, every time you want to go back and edit it, you would go back to your Google Drive. So I'm going to click on untitled site. And I'm going to just call this from practice the purpose of this video, you would name this site, whatever you're working on. Now, this name doesn't have to be the same as your website name. This is just the name of the file for the website, so that you can go back and edit it and make changes at all. So once I've done that, click out.

So you'll see that it calls it practice here, but your page title is still whatever you want it to be. So I'm going to start by looking at these menus to the right you have three areas, insert pages and themes. I'm going to start with themes. So when you click on themes, Google Sites tries to make it easy to make a professional looking website. So they give you some themes that you need that you can use. The downside of Google Sites is if you are a more advanced user, or want to have a few more customization options, you may want to use a different program.

This is for beginning beginners with making websites and it's really good for students to start making websites with so if you go through you'll see these different themes right now it defaults to this simple thing. And with various themes, you have different colors so you can change to some of the preset colors here or you can even have your own custom color. You can also change the font style. The font style is dictated by the theme that you choose. So if you don't like it You can change it here, but then it's going to change it for all of the text in your page. So it's you can't have a different font in one section or the other.

So if you click through, you'll see the different styles. Now some of them you'll notice as you click through that it puts this background image there. Don't worry about if you don't like that, because you can change it here. We're going to get into that in the next video. So you can just browse through to see which style you want and settle on one for your website.
