Lesson 60, we're going to take a look at four or five tuckson Productions in the key of C. They're all done in a very similar way. But each one has its own little twist or unique aspects. And the first one is in the key of C, this the introduction to check song, Carol that, listen to the original recording over and over again. And what I hear him doing, again with that little introduction slide this time and the kids see he's gone from this seventh fret to the ninth fret, and then 810 on the second string and he's gonna go 12345 So the first part is gonna do it again. This time you hear a little different so what he's doing is making kind of a partial f ninth shape by using his first finger instead of just getting the first and second strings at the eighth fret.

Now he's getting the first second and third strike on the record and he goes back just stays right there. You ever see the Chuck Berry movie? Hail, hail, rock and roll. Richards from the Rolling Stones and It surprises me Keith Richards doesn't play it correctly. He maybe he's just doing it this way. But you don't.

You don't do that. You just stay right on it. On the recording, it's hard to hear exactly what he does with that band. He bends it up at least And holds it like that he may do a little wiggle, wiggle wobble with it. It's hard to figure it out and again in that movie, Viva Viva or Hail Hail rock and roll. Chuck Berry tries to show Keith Richards the correct way to play it and he shows him doing it that kind of way.

But listen to the recording, see what you think. So let's do one more time slowly. And there you go. and away you go, as they say. Another song had a very similar introduction was House of blue lights, but see if you can notice the difference. Yeah, almost the same, but not quite the same.

Same intro. Same little single string intro, but now he's gonna do this. That around and around double stock lick that we learned early on eighth fret double stuff first and second strings 10th fret, second and third strings. eighth fret barred with the first finger second and third strings hammer on to the third string at the ninth fret, getting the second string as well. And then the 10th fret of the fourth string, so the whole thing does it again. So the whole intro does it quicker.

Up and down, sustain and hang out there. So one more time slowly And that's how he kicks off the house of blue lights, which is in the key of C. Now for our third and fourth examples, we're going to take a look at two introductions, one for a little Queenie and the other one for his other Christmas song Ron Rudolph Ron, which really are both the exact same introduction. And they're played a little little differently. They go something like this. What I hear is this chord slide at the beginning, so instead of just doing that single string run, not sure exactly where he starts this from, but what it sounds like to me is an abbreviated f shape chord. So we're playing in C, maybe starts it from the B flat, maybe starts it all the way from the G. You listen to it, see what you think.

Try it different ways. I'm just doing it from the B flat to keep it simple right now. So he slides and then he starts this Watch this. So he's gonna go to the double stop on the third and fourth strings at the 10th fret. And then he's gonna come back and then do this double stop on the 11th and 10th fret of the first and second string with a little bend upwards. Let's do the whole introduction.

Again, the song goes to the right, Ron Rudolph, Ron, it's pretty much the exact same introduction. So listen to that song. And you'll hear the exact same thing that mystery there's How does he do that? sly doesn't sound like a whole chord. I think it's just that partial chord or something like that. into that lick.

So let's do a little Queenie slowly, one time Now before we leave this this section on on see introductions, I'm going to show you one more and this is from the St. Louis Blues. And this one, same intro, not quite listen to how he does this and then enter the song. So what he's doing is that same slide that we saw in the first two examples. Now he's gonna play. What I hear him doing is picking the double stop at the eighth fret first and second string and then getting the second string before he gets the double stop again, so we got this a downstroke and an upstroke. And then he comes again.

Now the third time 1231231234. So let's check the position I've used a lot of times. So let's do that one again slowly. This is the intro for St. Louis Blues. I don't know if he keeps going on that four string or if he just stops there and then goes, goes into the tune. So those are five check berry songs.

You got five intros for the price of one there. And each one is similar, but there's little variations that make them unique except for run Rudolph run a little Queenie those are pretty much the same. We'll come back a little bit later toward the end of the section and take a look at two more that are in the key of C that are similar but have some variations we haven't seen yet.
