I get asked quite often, Alan, I'm a small business owner. Is it better that I have individual or family plans for each of my folks? Or should I have a group benefit program? That's a really good question.
Sometimes an individual plan is better value than a group plan. There's two main advantages of choosing an individual or family plan instead of a group plan. One is you can just pick who goes on that program. You got four employees, but you only want one of them to have coverage than an individual plan is the solution to sometimes the cost is better on the individual plan. It will only be true if it's a very small family, but sometimes that's the case. A group plan However, if you can make it work, and the disadvantage of a group plan is all the employees have to be included.
