When you load dragon for the first time, you will be asked to create your user profile. This is unique to you and is how dragon learns how you speak and the type of language that you use when writing, helping it to become more accurate. Please click next here. One of the options when naming your profile is to state that it will be used to transcribe recordings of someone else. This can be very useful, and we will look at this option later. For now, please enter a profile name.
Most people use their first name but it's entirely up to you. I'm going to call my profile dragon. Now click next and ensure that the region is set to United Kingdom. This is to ensure that dragon uses the UK dictionary for spelling purposes. Click Next and select your microphone. If you have connected it beforehand, you will see it displayed in this window I'm using the Yeti microphone.
The second line here is my laptop's built in microphone. To select either click and highlight the line as shown. Then click Next. This screen is showing you how to wear a headset microphone, or how to set if you're using a built in mic. A headset mic should be positioned about two to three fingertips from the corner of your mouth. Click Next.
Dragon now needs to configure your mic. Please click start and then read the text shown in your normal book talking voice. This process doesn't usually take more than a minute or two. And I'm going to do that now. I am reading this text out loud clearly and naturally. I will continue to use this tone when I dictate with the product.
Right now. I am giving dragon a chance to adapt my voice and audio environment. As I talk dragon is checking the quality of the audio input and adjusting some settings. Good audio input is essential for accurate speech recognition. Now click Next. Dragon will then create your profile and then you can click Finish.
If you're presented with the interactive tutorial, please close it and follow the next steps here.
