Alright next you got your channel concept that all right let's say it's the video game makeup channel like I said earlier Now where do you go from here well next is picking your channel name there used to be a lot more weight put on the channel name by YouTube because you weren't able to change the channel name later once you picked it usually was since changed the rules so they're not so strict on that anymore but for all intensive purposes we're going to kind of go forward with the thought that you're not going to change the name later because you are going to be branding your channel as that brand and it will take a lot of effort to redo all the graphics intros and the color schemes and your fonts and do all that again later it while it has been known to be done, not something you want to necessarily do it's a lot of work building up a brand in people's minds that's that's a lot of work in and of itself.
Why Why do all that work if you're just going to change it later so let's get a name that you're you know you feel good about that's first and foremost. It has to be a name that that you have a really good feeling about before I did fuzzy puppet and coolness I had another channel called sloppy laughs after a while I realized that that name sloppy. I didn't like it. I had a negative feeling inside of me, make sure it's a name you feel really good about because you're gonna be stuck with it for a very long time. Now, the actual picking of the name, here's what I suggest go to name check.com. It's a great website where you can type in a name, and it'll tell you if it's already taken on all the different platforms.
So I have a really good method for picking a name that I'm going to suggest to you guys now. And that is, it should be easy to remember and easy to spell with as few of words as possible. And if you can use an actual like coolness. I really love that name because it's an actual word. It's not a made up word. Made of words are good too.
Don't get me wrong, but again, it should be easy to remember easy to spell, and should have like a certain ring to it. You know, it should be fun to say the word, the name of your channel, because think about it. Doesn't this All this makes sense. It should be easy to remember if you don't want people to forget your name, buzzy puppet, even that, you'd be surprised how many people you know five minutes after a tone they've already forgotten the name and that's very easy to remember. So easy to remember. Easy to spell.
There should be no no confusion on how to spell it whatsoever. first grader should be able to spell your name backwards and forwards. You know, another thing I would suggest to when picking your name this is very important is there may come a time in the near future when YouTube doesn't exist anymore. It might go the way of MySpace to Facebook and you want to make a name that is easy to migrate from one platform to another. This is something to think about. In the beginning, I watched TJ Kirk on YouTube.
He's one of my favorite YouTubers. It's very easy for him and he's it's his name he YouTube's got, he can just migrate to a platform instantly. someone types in TJ Kirk boom, he can move all of his million subscribers from one platform to the next. Now I know this probably is not even anywhere on your radars. You're picking your name but I'm telling you as a YouTuber has been doing this for a long time, something to think about you want to be able to migrate to another platform.
