You've seen the type table before, the simplicity of the 16 cell structure is an effective way for people to discuss differences safely. A reminder that much of other people's apparently annoying behavior is not necessarily attributable to they're doing those things on purpose, but because their minds possibly also their brains function differently. Working with type is often criticized for putting people in boxes. This is one of the problems that can emerge with personality tests. labels can be applied to people that limit their ability to do things that fall outside of their tight preferences. People can be boxed in and refuse to be let out.
However, remember that we can use all of the preferences. Some are better developed an easier to use than others. We adapt the use of our preferences according to others. variety of factors and so effectively can become any type. Your best fit type is the type that you are most comfortable with. Consider the cell structure of the 16 types as being like rooms in a house.
You'll visit all of the rooms some time, and you'll spend more time in some rooms than in others. Your best fit type room is the room that you feel most comfortable in, you can relax and you can be yourself. It's the room that you spend most time in, and it's where people will look when they want to find you. Let's have a look at another example that will help with your understanding. Here are the numbers want 45 Your task is to find all the numbers in order starting from one, then two, then three, and so on all the way through to 45. I'll give you some time to try this now and see how far you get.
It's quite difficult isn't it? some numbers really stand out and some are quite difficult to see. You may not have found all of them, but hopefully you'll have made some progress. By applying a framework over the numbers, the exercise becomes much easier to do. You can see where the numbers are in relation to each other. Now that you understand the system, try the exercise.
Again without the framework and see how far you get this time. You should be able to make much better progress and count up to 45 relatively quickly. Each number remains individual, but it's related to the others in some way. Once you know what the pattern is, you'll be able to notice certain groupings. All the numbers on the right hand side can be easily divided by three. What's this got to do with personality types by applying a framework to our knowledge of preferences and type, because becomes easier to recognize patterns and groupings.
This helps with our understanding and makes things much clearer around some of the relationships. A good practitioner is not looking to place people into a box by any means, but to use this as a starting point to explore how the preferences and how behavior expressed
