Levator scapulae is just what it says in its name and is a muscle that elevates the scapula or the shoulder blade. It has two attachments. One is deep in the neck of the school, close to my fingertips in this video, and the other is that the superior medial border of our scapula or shoulder blade. To really effectively stretch this muscle, we're going to want to pull both of the attachments the origin and insertion of the muscle away from one another gently. So just like in the wall stretch, go ahead and lift your hand as high as you can on the doorway. And then reach your opposite hand behind your head as in the three parts stretch that we learned.
Back to the ridge, at the base of the skull. Go ahead and let the weight of your arm Gently guide your chin down and away from the arm that's lifted. So your chin is dropping at 45 degrees down towards your chest. Be gentle and careful and stretch this muscle slowly. It's a commonly complaining muscle for those with text neck.
