So what is great acting? Great acting is the ability to convey another character truthfully through stage/screen presence, line memorization, knowledge of dramatic techniques, creativity, and confidence. There are different types of acting, such as theatre and on-camera acting. Let me break down the differences. Theatre acting audience focus is large! Therefore, you need to be a bit larger in life. This consists of bigger movements and projection so that the audience members way in the back can hear and see you. On the other hand, on-camera acting requires smaller and subtle movements due to a smaller audience; the camera! Dive in the subtlety of on-camera acting hand placement, fidgeting, interacting with the prop, Stepping side, facing the other character, or not facing the character. What body positions hand movement etc. tell the story of the character, which is something we will talk about in a later video. Now that you know the difference between the two let’s move on to the focus of this course; on-camera acting! In our next video, we will discuss how to create a more believable character from in the inside out with character development.
