Thinking about results is forward thinking. But what if backward thinking would help people get the results they want. asking people about what they already have, that will be useful on their journey is good preparation. It can even help them find shortcuts, time savers and forgotten resources. Back to the Future is a short journey, in which the coach asks the traveler to reflect on assets that will help them achieve their goal. The traveler turns their Back to the Future in order to focus on helpful factors in the past and present.
The coaches questions all use the same format. What knowledge or skills or something else do you already have that will help you on this journey back to the future is adjusting time review process that precedes planning things compete as an audit of assets, strengths and resources. It is not a substitute for making a plan, but it is likely to result in a much better plan. First set up the traveler places on the floor, word symbol or picture that represents their goal and explains it to their coach.
