This section is very important if you plan to sell on eBay, you will need an eBay account. It is free to register and once you pick a username and fill out some info, you will be ready to go. Think about creating your new username. It can be something catchy or cute or businesslike. It will be what your buyers see when they hunt for treasures to buy on eBay. Each username on eBay is unique and one of a kind.

So pick carefully. On my main longtime eBay account, my username is anzi simply because my name is Anza Nadia, and I like to shorten it to just an xe my eBay store is called a to z pirate booty. When you get a chance come by and visit my eBay listings Here's the step by step for registering for an eBay account. Go to ebay.com click on Register near the top of the page. Next, you will fill in a short form for either a personal or a business account. Then add your email address.

Make sure it's the same one on your PayPal account. Add a password, and your first and last name as well as your mobile phone. Click Register. The business account can be used if you have a legal business name and a business email address. It will allow you to grow in the area of selling limits and promotions. For now let's just select personal we can always upgrade it later.

Once you have entered the info needed, eBay will ask you for another level of security and text to a pin number to the mobile phone you are registering. Okay, we are now logged in. Don't forget to write down your login info. It can be easily forgotten with the many sites we go to these days. Here's my welcome email from eBay for the new account just created. As I just went through the new account process, eBay gave me a username similar to my own first and last name, but I want to change it.

Go to the top left corner of the main eBay page, where you see your username and click on account settings. This is what the My Account page looks like under my eBay. We will make our changes there. If you click on that personal information, and then find account information, you will see user ID click Edit, which is located on the far right hand side of the page, you are able to change your user ID once every 30 days. I've made a new eBay name just for demonstration purposes. It is no experience needed.

Here is the eBay policy for user IDs. It cannot be obscene or have the word eBay in it. It must be at least six characters long and cannot have a space. Though an eBay store name may have a space in the title is a good idea to review the policy before choosing an eBay ID. I have a zero next to my username so everyone on eBay can see that I'm a newbie. That's okay.

We all have to start somewhere. We will want to grow our feedback soon. To help build a solid eBay reputation now I'm going to link my new paypal account to my new eBay account. I will go to the right hand side of my account page and click link my paypal account. After that log into eBay and the next screen that comes up will allow you to fill in your address information. You will be able to use PayPal to accept a buyers credit card and also electronic check payments online.

It is the most used payment method on eBay. It's safe and easy to way to go. You are ready to sell. Take some time and click on each of the links on the left hand side of this page under my account and my eBay it will help you get familiar with the eBay site. It's also recommended that you fill in any info needed under those links to make eBay a smooth place for you to sell and buy online. Personal Information is the page where you can complete info regarding your eBay account and password, email and contact information and financial and payment info to the Edit links are on the right hand side of the page.

Bonus money saving tip once your PayPal debit card comes in the mail, you can add that card to make your eBay fee payments and you'll get 1% back each month from PayPal. Under addresses you can specify your main contact address. Then add your primary address where packages will be sent when you buy something on eBay. And your primary ship from address which shows where you're sending items from that have been sold. They might be the same for some people and different for others. It's great to have that option.

In communication preferences, you will have lots of decisions to make on how you want eBay to notify you of sales and BEST OFFERS and member to member activity. Some people will want to be notified for every action like feedback and promotions, others not so much. Many of the default preferences are for real time notifications. You may not want that much info. So this is the page to make those revisions. Don't forget to take a look at Site preferences.

There are many things you can do on this page, like block a buyer from future transactions if you feel that's warranted, or you can set your preferences for reviews and guides and other general preferences. In order to see your seller dashboard, you have to make your first eBay sale. The seller dashboard lets you know your status like if you're a top rated seller, your defect rate, late shipment percentages, upload a tracking numbers and your transaction totals and sales numbers. This screen shows you some numbers from one of my eBay accounts. Feedback is a page you will want to visit often. With a new eBay account like no experience needed, you will not see much info here.

But as your feedback number grows with more and more completed transactions, it's a good idea to check in and see how you're doing on a regular basis. The link to your PayPal account is a perfect way to get a summary History and to update PayPal settings if needed. It shows the dashboard, favorites, history and settings. I highly recommend using eBay for charity on some of your listings, you do the selling, everything else gets taken care of for you. It's a great way to give back subscriptions. This is where you can learn a lot more about the three levels of eBay stores. Once you start selling a lot I do suggest trying an eBay store subscription. A couple of the benefits are getting eBay branded stuff applies for free each quarter, and being able to put the listings in your store on vacation hold.
